Fire bans: Park fire ban - Mebbin National Park

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

Closed areas: Minyon Drive road closure

Minyon Drive will be closed between Minyon Falls and Rummery Park campground due to road repairs from Monday 19 August to Monday 9 September 2019. If you are travelling to Rummery Park campground, the only access will be via Nightcap Range Road. Likewise, if you are travelling to Minyon Falls, the only access will be via Minyon Drive.

Other planned events: Shorebird protection program - 1080 fox and wild dog program underway

NSW National Parks will run a 1080 fox baiting program in this park from Monday 8 July to Friday 20 December 2019. Where wild dogs are detected during these programs, they will also be controlled. Signs will be located at entrances to reserves where baits have been laid.

Dogs are not permitted in national parks or nature reserves. Please be aware of these control programs and keep domestic pets to designated pet exercise areas. Avoid bait stations and/or ejectors at all times.

These programs are priority initiatives of the NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan to protect breeding threatened shorebirds.

Closed areas: Cutters Hut closed - construction works

Cutters Hut, within Cutters Camp campground, is closed due to construction works. NPWS is currently upgrading Cutters Hut to create a new camp kitchen for visitors as well as completing Stage 2 of the Cutters campground upgrade. Construction works may cause minor noise disturbance to visitors.

Safety alerts: Limited access to Peacock Creek campground

The access roads through Richmond Range State Forest to Richmond Range National Park are currently in very poor condition because of overgrowth and roadway erosion. Therefore, access to Peacock Creek campground from Sextonville Road, Iron Pot Creek Road and Peacock Creek Road is unsuitable for 2WD and 4WD vehicles. Visitors can access Peacock Creek campground from Bruxner Highway along Richmond Range Road and Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive.
