Closed areas: Closed tracks due to flood damage

The following walking tracks and areas are closed until Friday 30 June 2023 due to flood damage:

  • Minyon falls walking track
  • Minyon Grass picnic area
  • Protestors Falls walking track
  • Terania Creek picnic area
  • Historic Nightcap track
  • Pholis Gap walking track

Whian Whian mountain bike trails will remain closed until Saturday 15 December 2022.

The Minyon Drive access road is open.

These closures may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

Alternative walking options in the area include:

  • Big Scrub loop and Rocky Creek Dam walk, accessible from Rocky Creek Dam picnic area
  • Mount Matheson loop accessible from Newton Drive.

Please drive with care as local roads leading to the park still have considerable flood damage. There are large pot holes, wash out and some narrow, single lane sections.

Mebbin National Park and Cutters Camp Campground - OPEN 

Some of the walking tracks and trails remain closed due to landslips and erosion caused by the severe rainfall causing dangerous conditions during February/March 2022.

Areas that remain CLOSED until they are made safe:

  • Original section of Byrrill Creek Walking Track (closed due to severe landslip) alternative walking track now available.
  • Lemon Tree Road Fire Trail
  • Walters Road Fire Trail

Some parts of this park are closed from Friday 9 September to Friday 27 January 2023 while walking trails and bridges are repaired from flood damage. The closed areas are:

  • Hells Hole
  • Unicorn Falls
  • Sand Ridge trail
  • Rockface road
  • Middle Ridge trail
  • North Chowan road
  • South Chowan road (beyond locked gate)

Closed areas: Walking track closed and areas open

The following areas are closed from Saturday 30 July 2022 due to recent severe flooding causing multiple treefalls and landslips:

  • Booyong track
  • Rosewood track
  • Palm Valley track
  • Brushbox Falls lookout

These areas will open as soon as repairs are carried out and they are deemed safe for public access.

  • Helmholtzia loop walking track
  • Brindle Creek walking track
  • Pinnacle lookout and walking track
  • Blackbutts lookout and picnic area
  • Bar Mountain picnic area
  • Beech Glade
  • Falcorostrum loop
  • Bar Mountain Circuit including Bar Mountain lookout

Closed parks: Wollumbin National Park closed

Wollumbin (Mount Warning) summit track will remain closed pending the development of a Memorandum of Understanding and further joint management arrangements, with future management of the park to be guided by Aboriginal custodians.

The remainder of Wollumbin National Park, including Lyrebird Track, is also closed until further notice. This is due to visitor infrastructure being significantly impacted by recent flooding events.

The closure of this park has been extended until Tuesday 28 February 2023, due to hazardous conditions and damage from flooding and storm events.

No public access is permitted. These closures may be extended, pending completion of repair works and additional weather impacts.

Other planned events: Fox control program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be laying 1080 ground baits between Tuesday 25 October and Saturday 19 December 2022 in Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve (north of the river) to control the introduced European red fox.

The fox control program is part of the NSW Saving our Species Program for the conservation of priority threatened species such as beach stone curlew and pied oystercatcher.

1080 warning signs will be placed at all authorised access points to the baiting location.

1080 is lethal to domestic dogs. Please restrain pets and working dogs and ensure they do not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning please seek immediate veterinary assistance. Domestic dogs are prohibited in all NSW National Parks, penalties apply for non-compliance.
