Closed areas: Wollumbin (Mount Warning) Summit track and Aboriginal Place closed

Parts of Wollumbin National Park, including the Korrumbyn Creek picnic area, Lyrebird walking track, and visitor facilities at Breakfast Creek, are open.

Please note Mount Warning Road is flood damaged and has traffic control in place. Parking at Korrumbyn Creek and Breakfast Creek is limited.

Wollumbin (Mount Warning) summit track and the Aboriginal Place remains closed. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

The following walking tracks and areas are closed until Friday 29 December 2023 due to flood damage:

  • Minyon Falls walking track from lookout to base of falls

These closures may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

Alternative walking options in the area include:

  • Big Scrub loop and Rocky Creek Dam walk, accessible from Rocky Creek Dam picnic area
  • Mount Matheson loop accessible from Newton Drive.

Please drive with care as local roads leading to the park still have considerable flood damage. There are large pot holes, wash out and some narrow, single lane sections.

Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive partly closed - Nov 29th to Dec 1st

The north of Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will bet closed for road works between Cambridge Plateau picnic area and Peacock Creek Road on Wednesday 29th November to Friday 1st December 2023.

Cambridge Plateau picnic area, Culmaran Valley track and Culmaran loop trail will remain open and accessible from the south via the Bruxner Hwy.

Peacock Creek campground will remain open and accessible from the west via Peacock Creek Road through Clarence Way.

Please drive with care as some local roads leading to the park still have areas of flood damage including pot holes and wash out areas.

For safety, Baranbali Road and Wabba Road in Mooball National Park will remain closed to the public until early 2024. In 2022, these fire management trails sustained major damage and are being repaired. Penalties apply for non-compliance

Safety alerts: Richmond Range NP - limited access via Sextonville Road

Due to a collapsed culvert and associated hole there is limited acccess to Richmond Range National Park via Sextonville Road. 

Richmond Range National Park remains open and is best accessed from the from the south via Richmond Range Roador the west via Peacock Creek Road.

Safety alerts: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive - 2WD access north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area in dry weather only

2WD access along Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive north of Cambridge Plateau Picnic Area limited to dry weather only.

The road has sections that can become slimmery and muddy following rain due to erosion and damage caused by flooding in March 2022. Roadworks are scheduled to repair the road by June 2024.

The road may be temporarily closed when extended periods of wet weather or high rinfall totals are forecast. Please drive with care as some local roads leading to the park still have areas of flood damage including pot holes and wash out areas.

 

Note that 2WD access for guests staying at the private cabin north of the picnic area will be able to access the cabin at all times unless the road is formally closed through an additional alert on the website.

Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road are closed for continued maintenance and repair works until 2024.

Sherwood lookout and Murray Scrub lookout will remain closed for the duration of works.

Iron Pot Creek campground and Murray Scrub walking track are only accessible via Murray Scrub Road from Afterlee.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ground baiting program

The NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service will be laying 1080 ground baits in Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve (north of the river) between the 25 July 2023 and 22 December 2023 to control the introduced European red fox.

The fox control program is part of the NSW Saving our Species Program for the conservation of priority threatened species such as beach stone curlew and pied oystercatcher.

1080 warning signs will be placed at all authorised access points to the baiting location.

WARNING: 1080 is lethal to domestic dogs and cats. Domestic dogs are prohibited in all NSW National Parks, penalties apply for non-compliance.

Please restrain pets and working dogs and ensure they do not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning please seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Mebbin National Park and Cutters Camp Campground - OPEN 

Some of the walking tracks remain closed due to landslips and erosion caused by the severe rainfall causing dangerous conditions during February/March 2022.

Areas that remain CLOSED:

  • Original section of Byrrill Creek Walking Track (closed due to severe landslip) an alternative walking track is now available, access to the 3km return walking track is from behind the camp kitchen in Cutters Camp Campground.

  • in Wollumbin National Park in the North Coast region
  • Wollumbin National Park is open, but may have to close at times due to perceived risk. The gate on Mount Warning Road entrance may also be closed from 5pm in winter and 6pm in summer (during daylight savings) and will reopen at 7am the following morning.
