Closed areas: Border Ranges National Park reopening

The following facilities are open from Monday 20 June 2022:

  • Sheepstation Creek and Forest Tops campgrounds
  • Red Cedar loop
  • Helmholtzia loop
  • Antarctic Beech lookout and picnic area
  • Pinnacle lookout walk
  • Blackbutt lookout and picnic area
  • Bar Mountain picnic area
  • Falcorostrum and Beech glade walk
  • Border Loop lookout and picnic area

Remaining walking tracks are closed until further notice. There is still on no access from the eastern/Barkers Vale end of the park due to ongoing land slip repair works.

Closed parks: Wollumbin National Park closed

Wollumbin National Park, formerly known as Mount Warning National Park, remains closed until the end of October 2022 due to the impacts of widespread flooding in the region.

The closure is also to allow further consultation with the Aboriginal community and other key stakeholders about the future management of the site.

Safety alerts: Changed access to Border Ranges National Park

Access to Border Ranges National Park is via Lynchs Creek/Forest Road from Winagaree only. This is due to ongoing land slip repair works between Bar Mountain picnic area and the eastern boundary gate. As a result there is no direct access from the Murwillumbah/Barkers Vale direction.

Note access to Border Loop lookout and walk is from NSW only as the Lions Road is closed at the QLD border.

The following walking tracks and areas are closed until further notice due to flood damage:

  • Minyon Drive access road

  • Pholis Gap walking track
  • Whian Whian mountain bike trails

Minyon Drive access road is closed until 3 July 2022 due to road repair works. Dunoon road between the Council road closure sign and Nightcap Range Road is open.

All visitors should drive with care and to conditions as local roads leading to the park still have considerable flood damage with large pot holes, wash out and some narrow, single lane sections.

Closed areas: Minyon Drive closed for works

Minyon Drive is closed from Monday 20 June to Sunday 3 July 2022 due to roadworks.

There is no vehicle or pedestrian access to the park from the east via Minyon Drive for the duration of the closure.

All visitors are to use Nightcap Range Road to access Rummery Park campground, Minyon Falls picnic area, Minyon Falls lookout and general walking tracks .

Dunoon road, between the council road closure sign and Nightcap Range Road, is open.

All visitors should drive with care and to conditions as local roads leading to the park still have considerable flood damage with large pot holes, wash out and some narrow, single lane sections.

This closure may be postponed or extended depending on weather and pending successful completion of works.

Richmond Range National Park is closed until further notice due to damage sustained in recent floods. This closure will be reviewed on Monday 26 September 2022. 

For safety reasons, neighbour access to Western Boundary trail is limited to 4WD vehicles only. No trucks or heavy plant/machinery are permitted.

Access from Peacock Creek Road is strictly closed, with access only available from the south via the Bruxner Highway.

Closed areas: Limited access to Mount Babyl trail

Access to Mount Babyl trail it limited due to landslips and storm damage. 

There is no access to Mount Babyl trail from the north via Peacock Creek Road/Sextonville Road due to a major landslip on Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive.

Access from the south is limited to LV 4WD only due to a rockfall which has only been partly cleared on Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive. Extreme care should be taken when driving through the rock fall area and the road should not be used during wet weather.
