Closed areas: Brindle Creek Road closed

Brindle Creek Road is closed until Tuesday 7 December 2021 due to storm damage and fallen trees. This closure may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible.

The following walking tracks and visitor areas will not be accessible for the duration of the closure:

  • Antarctic Beech picnic area
  • Brindle Creek picnic area
  • Brindle Creek walking track

Closed areas: O'Connors Fire Trail closed

O'Connors Fire Trail will be closed from Monday 22 November 2021 until Monday 17 January 2022 for maintenance, upgrading of culverts and bridge works.

Signs will be in place around closed areas. Cutters Camp campground and picnic area will remain open, and visitors can still access Byrrill Creek walking trail.

Closed areas: Tweed Range Scenic Drive East park entrance closed

The east park entrance on Tweed Range Scenic Drive (from Barkers Vale) is closed until Monday 31 January 2022 due to multiply landslips being repaired.  Tweed Range scenic drive is open from Sheepstation Creek to Bar Mountain. Access to Tweed Range scenic drive is only via Lynches Creek Road from Wiangaree. There is currently no access from the Barkers Vale entrance. All roads, walking tracks and lookouts within the park are open

Closed parks: Wollumbin National Park closed

Wollumbin National Park is closed until Thursday 31 March 2022 due to public safety risks associated with the summit walking track, and to allow further consultation with the Aboriginal community and other key stakeholders about the future management of the site.

Some of the best views of Wollumbin can be found along Pinnacle walk and lookout in Border Ranges National Park. You can also try Goorgana walking track or Pholis Gap walking track in nearby Nightcap National Park, or Best of All lookout at Queensland’s Springbrook National Park.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a ground baiting program using dried meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of the introduced European fox. The program will be conducted between 10 August 2021 and 17 December 2021 in Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve (north of the river).

The fox control program is part of the NSW Saving our Species Program for the conservation of priority threatened species such as the beach stone curlew and pied oystercatcher.

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
