Other planned events: No vehicle access to Rummery Park

No vehicle access is permitted to Rummery Park from the 3rd of February until the 14th February due to construction of the Widjabul Wia-bal campground in the Rummery precinct. 

Pedestrian access is possible but delays may be experienced. Please take note of directional signage and contractor directions.

Increased noise levels will be experienced during this period due to heavy machinery operations.

Closed areas: Nightcap Range Road closed in both directions due to major landslip repairs

Nightcap Range Road will be closed for major landslip repairs from 16 September 2024 until 31 March 2025. During this time, the road will be closed in both directions between Rummery Road and Nightcap Ridge. Please be advised this closure may be extended.

 

Access to Rummery Park Campground and Minyon Falls will be via Minyon Falls Road only.

Safety alerts: Storm Damage Warning on Walking Tracks

Due to a severe storm that occurred on Thursday 23 January, visitors are advised to exercise caution when accessing walking tracks across the area. While some tracks have been closed for safety, others remain unassessed and may have damage or hazards we are not yet aware of.

Note severe damage is expected on some walking tracks in Nighcap National Park & Whian Whian State Conservation Area.

Please take extra care when visiting and follow all signage and closures.

Closed areas: Flood Remediation works at Mt Jerusalem NP, South Chowan Rd

Remediation works have now begun until end of February 2025 to fix a landslip as a result of Flood 22 event in Mt Jerusalem NP. Area's effected include:

  • South Chowan Road (Beyond the gate)
  • No impact to traffic or public access road
  • Bush walkers and cyclists to take extra precaution during this time

Closed areas: Koonyum Range Road essential maintenance - 10 February to 14 February 2025

Koonyum Range Road and Boogarem Road in Mount Jerusalem National Park will be closed to vehicle traffic whilst essential road and vegetation maintenance is undertaken. The closure will be in effect from 8:00 am Monday 10 February to 5:00 pm Friday 14 February 2025. There will be heavy plant and equipment operating in the area. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Other planned events: Vehicle access to Mount Jerusalem Central Trails, Unicorn Falls and Whiskey Creek walk

NPWS advises visitors using the Mount Jerusalem National Park Central Trails, Unicorn Falls walking track and Whiskey Creek walk to access these areas via Uki using Rowlands Creek Road and Manns Road. Byron Shire Council are currently undertaking flood restoration works within the Main Arm valley. These works include the restoration and repair of culverts and causeways along Main Arm Road, which is the main vehicle access to Mount Jerusalem National Park when approaching from Mullumbimby. Byron Shire Council have advised that Main Arm Road should only be used by local traffic. Flood restoration works to Main Arm Road are expected to be completed by early 2026. Rummery Park Campground is closed due to construction works occuring on the Widjabul Wia-bal campground from 3rd of February until 14th February 2025.

 

No access will be permitted during this period due to the closure of the area and the access roads.
