Safety alerts: Peacock Creek campground access changed

Access to Peacock Creek campground has changed due to deterioration of local roads following the impacts of Cyclone Alfred. See below best options to access the campground whilst repairs and upgrades take place on local roads:

  1. Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive via Bruxner Highway (south) - best access when open, 2WD suitable in dry weather only. Intermittently closed during periods of wet weather.
  2. Sextonville Road via Summerland Way (east) - Currently good access including caravans and long vehicles. However, note it is 2WD suitable in dry weather only.
  3. Iron Pot Creek Road via Kyogle (north) - Currently under traffic control and not suitable for caravans/campertrailers. Good access for most vehicles  from Kyogle via Afterlee Road to the Dam Access Road, then a left turn onto Brays Road, right turn onto Logan's Bridge Road, right turn onto Iron Pot Creek Road. Follow signs to Bonalbo once on Brays Road.
  4. Peacock Creek Road via Clarence way (west) - 4WD only, not recommended for towing. Two steep creek crossings not suitable for 2WD/AWD, badly damaged with large pot holes.

Drivers advised to drive to conditions, check NPWS website alerts before visiting and follow all signage instructions at road works. For more information, contact the NPWS Kyogle area office on 02 6632 0000.
