Safety alerts: Road safety advice - 4WD only and horse float restrictions
Due to deteriorated road conditions Spirabo Forest Way is restricted to 4WD only, and is unsuitable for the towing of horse floats, caravans or trailers. This includes all roads providing access to Spirabo Forest Way, including Scrub Road from Tenterfield, Mount Spirabo Road from the New England Highway at Bolivia, and Ten Mile Road and Coxs Road in the south from Deepwater. These roads are unsuitable for low clearance 4WDs, AWD or 2WD vehicles.

Please be advised contractors will be completing a series of works within the Boonoo Boonoo Falls picnic area, Boonoo Boonoo Falls walking track and northern end of Boonoo Boonoo River walk from Monday 6 February 2023 until Monday 24 April 2023.
The Boonoo Boonoo Falls picnic area, including access to the Boonoo Boonoo Falls lookout and rockpools, will remain open during the construction works. Visitors are required to follow all directional signs in place, safely detouring around the construction site.

Closed areas: Bald Rock walk to the base of Bald Rock closed
Bald Rock Summit walking track will be closed to the base of Bald Rock from 8am Monday 9 January 2023. This closure is to support the installation of a new pedestrian bridge as part of upgrade works along the track to make the walk more accessible to all visitors. This closure includes the walking route directly up and down the face of Bald Rock.
Bungoona walk to the summit will remain open during this time, which is a more gradual climb around the side of Bald Rock to the summit.

Yabbra National Park is closed until further notice. The closure is due to damage from recent weather events, and roadworks on Joes Box, South Yabbra, Yabbra Plains and Pocupar Roads.

Closed areas: Road closure
Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.
The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.
Please note:
- Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
- Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.
