Closed areas: Williams Top Road closed due to storm damage
Some parts of this park are closed until further notice due to recent storm damage and dangerous trees. Forestry Corporation of NSW has closed Williams Top Road due to a washed-out culvert. Access to Black Swamp and Wombat Creek campgrounds is affected.
The closed areas are:
- Williams Top picnic area (Upper Rocky Crossing walk)
- Lagoon Pinch picnic area
- Corker trail
Sites in Barrington Tops Plateau, including Wombat Creek campground and Black Swamp campground, can still be accessed via Link trail (Kerripit Road, Gloucester Tops) or Junction Pools (via Barrington trail).
Burraga Swamp track can now be accessed via Allyn River Road (use either Salisbury Gap Road from Salisbury or Bingleburra Road from Dungog). If you're in a 2WD vehicle, drive with caution and avoid this area in wet weather.
Check conditions before travelling because causeways rise quickly with rain.

Fire bans: Jacky Barkers campground - Fire Ban
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park
Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It has been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.
Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.

Safety alerts: 1080 wild dog and fox baiting operation
An aerial and ground baiting operation will take place in Barrington Tops National Park and State Conservation Area, Wallabadah Nature Reserve, Ben Halls Gap Nature Reserve and National Park, Crawney Pass National Park, Curracabundi National Park and State Conservation Area, Mernot Nature Reserve, Monkeycot Nature Reserve and Watchimbark Nature Reserve from Tuesday 31 March to Wednesday 30 September 2020. Meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluroacetate) poison will be used. The program is for the control of wild dog and foxes. Baiting locations are identified by signs.
Please remember that domestic pests are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
