Other incidents: Wild dog baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be running a wild dog baiting program within Guy Fawkes River National Park and Guy Fawkes River Nature Reserve. The program will take place from Monday 24 September to Monday 26 November 2018.

1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baits will be placed along existing trails in these reserves. 1080 baits pose a high risk to domestic dogs, and all working or pet dogs should be kept under control and away from baiting areas at all times. There will be signs advising of the baiting program at main entrances to the these reserves where the baits are located.

This activity is part of the annual pest animal program conducted across the National Park estate in the NPWS Northern Tablelands Area and is being conducted to lessen the impact of wild dogs on the reserve and surrounding private property. This activity is a joint managed program involving National Parks and Wildlife Service, Local Land Services and adjoining landholders.

Please remember, it's an offence under the National Parks and Wildlife Act to allow domestic animals into national parks and nature reserves or to interfere with the wild dog control program.

For more information, contact the Glen Innes area office on 02 6739 0700.
