Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be conducted between Monday Friday 14 May and Monday 31 May 2021 in:

  • Crowdy Bay National Park
  • Lake Innes State Conservation Area
  • Queens Lake State Conservation Area
  • Innes Ruins Historic Site

All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Walking track closures due to unsafe conditions

A number of walking tracks are closed from Monday 5 April to Monday 31 May 2021 due to significant localised rain and flooding resulting in unsafe conditions. The closed tracks are:

  • Jack Perkins track
  • Hungry Road to the junction with Connors track at Kemps Headland
  • Kinchela Trig lookout walk

Road access to Gap Beach North is closed from Monday 19 April 2021 to Wednesday 30 June 2021 due to damage caused by flooding. Road access to Gap Beach South has now reopened.

Safety alerts: Port Macquarie coastal walk repairs underway

Maintenance works will occur on the Port Macquarie coastal walk between Shelly Beach and North Miners Beach from Friday 14 May to Friday 11 June 2021.

Visitors will still be able to access this section of the trail up until Sunday 23 May 2021 with local diversions in place. This section will then be closed from Monday 24 May to Sunday 6 June 2021 to allow replacement of hand rails on exposed sections of walking trail.

Closed parks: Parks closed due to flood damage - Hastings-Macleay area

Several parks in the Hastings-Macleay area are closed due to flood and storm damage.

Camping is not permitted in closed parks.

These closures are due to widespread flooding and extensive damage to roads, campgrounds and other park facilities. Parks will be reopened as soon as they are safe to access. Some parks will remain closed for extended periods.

Closed areas: Sea Acres Boardwalk partially closed

The Sea Acres Rainforest boardwalk will be partially closed from Tuesday the 4th of May 2021 to allow for maintenence of the structure. Most of the boardwalk remains open allowing out and back access from both directions. The access fee is reduced to half price. The boardwalk will be re opened completely on weekends, public holidays and school holidays and returned to full price. 
This work will be ongoing through the winter months and its duration will be weather dependent. 

The Rainforest Centre, Cafe and Coastal walk remain open.

The historic Roto House within Roto House Historic Site is closed for until further notice. Reopening planning is underway for after the Covid restrictions change.

The grounds and carpark of Roto House Historic Site remain open to the public.
