Closed areas: Closed roads due to Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred in New England National Park

Closed roads in New England National Park until 31 August due to Ex-tropical cyclone Alfred. Road blocks have been installed on the Horseshoe road to prevent vehicle movements at the Killikrankie Mountain Lookout intersection in the north and at Kilprotay road Intersection to the south. In addition, Kilprotay road has developed a natural road blockage about 3.5 km from the intersection with the Horseshoe road.

Two significant events have been identified, affecting the roading network in New England National Park:

  • Horseshoe road – culvert blow out and undermining of road, no through access
  • Kilprotay road – major landslip (~3.5km from the top intersection with the Horseshoe road), no through access

These closures will remain in place until geohazard assessments can be undertaken and works completed. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
