Closed areas: Bedlam Bay wharf and boat ramp temporary closure

The Bedlam Bay wharf and adjacent pedestrian boat ramp, Parramatta River Regional Park, will be closed from Monday 19 April until late June 2021 while essential repairs are undertaken to these facilities.

Alternative boating facilities are available at:

  • Banjo Patterson wharf, Punt Road, Gladesville 
  • Kissing Point Park boat ramp and jetty, Waterview Street, Putney

All other areas of the park remain open.

Closed areas: Yeramba Lagoon loop track partially closed

Yeramba Lagoon loop walking track in Georges River National Park is closed from behind Henry Lawson Drive down to the lagoon.

The pedestrian bridge over the lagoon runout channel has been removed while the weir is being worked on. This section of track is impassable and has been closed off.

Closed areas: Picnic shelter and road closures

Casuarina Point and Haynes Flat picnic areas will be closed for upgrades from Monday 19 April until early June. Signs will be placed around closed areas.

During this time, Max Allen Drive after Bakers Flat carpark will also be closed on week days.Pedestrians will be able to access Max Allen Drive. Vehicle access will be allowed on weekends.

The Bluefish Point bushland area is closed to public access for public safety and to protect important plant and animal communities. For your safety and to help conserve the landscape, please stay on sign-posted walking tracks when visiting Sydney Harbour National Park.

The Shelly Beach to Bluefish walking track is open.

Multiple trails in the Lane Cove upper valley have vegetation works occurring from the 29th March 2021 till the end of April. Crews with machinery will be clearing vegetation on the side of trails. Trails will remain open for pedestrians and bikes, please be cautious around moving machinery and wait for workers' instructions before passing.

This is a popular location and will close at short notice if needed to ensure visitation levels do not exceed safe capacity required by COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

We encourage you to:

  • Plan your visit outside of the peak periods of 10am to 3pm
  • Check this alert before leaving home and again before arriving at the park.
  • Be prepared to move on if it is no longer possible for you to park your vehicle or maintain a COVID-safe distance from other visitors.

From Monday 29 March 2021, the maximum group size for an outdoor gathering will be increased from 50 people to 200 people, including children. Group size restrictions for specific National Parks still apply. Groups are still expected to maintain social distancing and good hygiene.

The closure of toilets and other facilities will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Necessary site assessments will take place to consider the management of health and safety risk to visitors and staff, and available resourcing to maintain facilities. Access to sanitation products and running water cannot be guaranteed. We recommend bringing hand soap, hand wipes and toilet paper with you to maintain good hygiene as advised by the NSW Government.

Closed areas: Malabar Headland Anzac Rifle Range

1. For public safety, the eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park is closed during ANZAC Rifle Range operations.

These closures may occur with little or no notice.

2. When is the eastern section of the park closed?

  • Every Saturday from 7.30am
  • Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month
  • Anzac Day Sunday 25 April 2021 - additional closure

3. Do not enter the eastern section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:

  • Red flags are flying above the range
  • There are warning signs at the park's entry points (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark).
  • Park entry gates are closed

These closures apply to the eastern section of the park only (Boora Point walking track).

The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open.

The range operation schedule is provided by the NSW Rifle Association.

Closed areas: The Coast track at Burning Palms - major upgrade

The Coast track at Burning Palms will be subject to closures due to a major upgrade taking place from Monday 22 March to 30 June 2021.

The track will be closed every Monday (8am) to Thursday (4pm) during the closure period. The track will remain open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

These works will affect access to:

  • Figure 8 Pools
  • Palm Jungle loop track
  • The Coast track between Burning Palms and Otford lookout

The Audley Boatshed will be undergoing important conservation and repair works. Safety alerts: Protect your picnic - native birds may steal your food

Birds at Nielsen Park are attempting to steal food from visitors' picnics and tables due to unauthorised feeding of local native birds. To try and reduce this unwanted behaviour, NPWS is asking visitors to not actively feed any wildlife and to please bring suitable methods to cover your food. These include storage containers with sealed lids or an umbrella to cover your picnic to reduce food visibility and access.

Please note, it is illegal to feed wildlife in a national park. NPWS officers are monitoring the area and fines apply if visitors are seen actively feeding birds and promoting this unwanted behaviour.

Transport for New South Wales are currently undertaking land-based investigations in support of the reinstatement of the ferry wharves at La Perouse and Kurnell within Kamay Botany Bay National Park.

Some parts of North Head in Sydney Harbour National Park are closed due to fire damage. The closed areas include:

  • North Head Scenic Drive, after the carparks opposite Bella Vista Cafe and before the North Head Scenic Drive loop road.
  • Bluefish Drive past the Gunner Road Car Park entrance
  • Fairfax walk and lookout
  • All tracks and trails south of Bluefish Drive and along North Head Scenic Drive past the Q Station roundabout.

Open areas include:

  • Q Station
  • The track between Shelly Beach and Bluefish Drive
  • North Head Scenic Drive until just beyond the Bella Vista Cafe
  • Collins Flat Beach
  • Collins Beach Road

A section of Flat Rock track - from the Killarney Drive entrance to the Downpatrick Street entrance - is currently closed until further notice due to track safety issues where the track passes through private property near Killarney Point:

  • Walkers heading west should exit Flat Rock track at the eastern end of Killarney Drive and use Killarney Drive until you reach Downpatrick Street. Then walk down the street and re-enter Flat Rock track from the Downpatrick Street fire trail.
  • Walkers heading east should exit Flat Rock track at the Downpatrick Street fire trail and use Downpatrick Street, then Killarney Drive until you reach the end of Killarney Drive. Re-enter Flat Rock track from the Killarney Drive entrance.

  • 7am–8.30pm November to March. 

    7am–7.30pm April to October.

    La Perouse park entry gate closed to vehicles between 7pm and 5am all year.

    Areas may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • There are no park entry fees in La Perouse area but you'll need to pay to tour Bare Island. Park entry fees apply in the Kurnell area of Kamay Botany Bay National Park, only.
