Closed areas: Nightcap Range Road closed in both directions due to major landslip repairs

Nightcap Range Road is closed to traffic in both directions due to a major landslip associated with the 2022 flood event. The closure affects the section of Nightcap Range Road between Rummery Road intersection and Telephone Road trailer parking area.

Access to Minyon Falls and Rummery Park is via Minyon Falls Road only.

Safety alerts: Beach access closed due to beach erosion

The beach access track between Mildenhall Cottage and Imeson Cottage has been closed until further notice. Coastal processes have eroded the sand dune causing a dangerous drop off. The closest access to Clarkes Beach is via Brooke Drive and the Pass, or through the Bawaii (Captain Cook) car park and rest area.

Other planned events: Maintenance on Brummies Road, Condowie Road and North Wollumbin Road

Essential road maintenance is underway on Brummies Road, Condowie Road and North Wollumbin Road. Works will be happening from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and are expected to be completed by Friday 6 March 2026.

During these works access may be temporarily restricted. Bushwalkers and cyclists are advised to follow the directions of roadwork signs and contractor staff.

Heavy plant & machinery will be operating in the area to resurface trails, reinstate drainage and replace damaged bridges.

Closed areas: Closure part Tweed Range Scenic Drive - Border Ranges National Park

The Tweed Range Scenic Drive will be closed to all vehicles between Sheepstation Creek camping area and Forest Tops camping area to allow for essential road repairs.

Visitors will not be able to access the Tweed Range Scenic Drive from the Sheepstation Creek or western end.

Works are scheduled to commence on 17th February and will continue after that date for 4 - 5 days.

Access to the Tweed Range Scenic Drive and all associated visitor areas including Brindle Creek and the Pinnacle Lookout will only be available from the eastern end of the Tweed Range Scenic Drive via Creegans Road, Barkers Vale during this period.

Access to Sheepstation Creek camping area from the Summerland Way at Wiangaree is not affected. All walking tracks from Sheepstation Creek remain open.

Closed areas: Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road closed

From 28 October 2025, Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road are closed until Autumn 2026. Estimated re-opening is May 2026 following completion of maintenance works.

Sherwood lookout and Murray Scrub lookout remain closed until the roads are re-opened. Iron Pot Creek campground and Murray Scrub walking track are only accessible via Murray Scrub Road from Afterlee.

Both roads are not safely trafficable in wet conditions and are therefore seasonally closed from late spring until late autumn dependant on rainfall during the wet season. There may also be additional closures during forecast weather events and damage during the winter period.

Please travel via Uki using Rowlands Creek and Manns Roads to access the following locations:

  • Mount Jerusalem Central trails
  • Unicorn Falls walking track
  • Whiskey Creek walk 
  • Gidjuum Gulganyi walk

Byron Shire Council is currently undertaking flood restoration works within the Main Arm valley, expected to be completed by early 2026.

These works include the restoration and repair of culverts and causeways along Main Arm Road, which is the main vehicle access to Mount Jerusalem National Park when approaching from Mullumbimby. Byron Shire Council have advised that Main Arm Road should only be used by local traffic.

Wollumbin (Mount Warning) summit track and the summit are closed until further notice. Parking at Korrumbyn Creek and Breakfast Creek is limited.

The Border Loop Lookout and walking track will be closed to all visitors to allow for essential roadworks on the Lions Road.
