Hidden Treasure and Basin Loop walking tracks in Copeland Tops State Conservation Area are closed from Monday 14 September 2020. The closure is due to the walking track upgrade project and will remain in place until the project is complete. The work is expected to be completed in 6 weeks, however this depends on weather conditions.

  • Gloucester Falls, Antarctic Beech and River walks at Gloucester Tops.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting ongoing aerial and ground baiting programs in this park from Tuesday 23 June to Tuesday 22 December 2020. This program will use meat baits, meat bait products and ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

This program is designed to minimise the impact of foxes on wildlife, especially after the recent extensive bushfires, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs and foxes on neighbouring stock.

All baiting locations will be identified by signs. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks and Reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Safety alerts: Barrington Tops (western side) - aerial pest control operation

The western side of Barrington Tops National Park from Moonan Brook to Mount Royal National Park will be closed from 4pm, Tuesday 1 September to 1pm, Friday 4 September 2020 for an aerial pest control operation.

This program will target feral pigs and deer as part of the state-wide post-fire recovery program. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals, including threatened species. Other pest animals, including goats, foxes and wild dogs, will be targeted if observed during the operation.

Visitors will still be able to use all visitor areas within Barrington Tops National Park and Mount Royal National Park while the aerial pest control program is in operation.

The following 4WD trails are closed to all public vehicles from Monday 1 June 2020 to Wednesday 30 September 2020 for the winter seasonal closure:

  • Barrington trail - south
  • Barrington trail - central
  • Paddys Ridge trail
  • Butchers Swamp trail
  • Bullock Brush trail
  • Thunderbolts trail (between Barrington Tops Forest Road and Pheasants Creek Road)
  • Tugalow trail

Vehicle access to Junction Pools, Little Murray and Gummi Falls campgrounds and associated walking tracks and facilities is closed during this time. Visitors can still access all these campgrounds, walking tracks and facilities on foot or by bicycle.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial and ground baiting program using meat baits, meat bait products and canid pest ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison, for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program is happening between Tuesday 31 March and Wednesday 30 September 2020 in Ben Halls Gap National Park and nature reserve.

There will be signs at all baiting locations.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks. 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park

Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It has been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.

Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.

An aerial and ground baiting operation will take place in Barrington Tops National Park and State Conservation Area, Wallabadah Nature Reserve, Ben Halls Gap Nature Reserve and National Park, Crawney Pass National Park, Curracabundi National Park and State Conservation Area, Mernot Nature Reserve, Monkeycot Nature Reserve and Watchimbark Nature Reserve from Tuesday 31 March to Wednesday 30 September 2020. Meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluroacetate) poison will be used. The program is for the control of wild dog and foxes. Baiting locations are identified by signs.

Please remember that domestic pests are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Upper Avon Road in Berrico Nature Reserve is currently closed to all vehicles between Berrico Road and Berrico Creek Road. This is due to the failure of an old log culvert. NSW National Parks is working on fixing the problem as soon as possible, depending on resource availability and the weather.
