Closed areas: Wattamolla toilets closed for urgent maintenance

The toilets at Wattamolla in Royal National Park will be closed from 7am Wednesday 26 February to 7am Thursday 27 February 2020 while contractors undertake urgent maintenance works.

The nearest public toilets can be found at Bonnie Vale in Bundeena or Garie Beach.

We recommend walkers on The Coast track plan to use the toilets at:

  • Eric Street, Bundeena at the start of the track for southbound travel
  • Garie Beach for northbound travel

A fox baiting program will take place in Towra Point Nature Reserve from Monday 24 February to Monday 9 March 2020. Areas where baiting is underway will be signposted. The area is a nature reserve and closed to the public. Domestic pets are not permitted.

This program is part of the Little Tern and Pied Oystercatcher Saving our Species program to protect nesting shorebirds. For more information, call the Kurnell Visitor Centre on 02 9668 2000.

The toilets at the Commemoration Flat and Cricketers Pitch areas in Kamay Botany Bay National Park will be closed for repairs from Monday 3 February 2020 to Tuesday 31 March 2020.

Toilets will be available at the Visitors Centre, a short walk from the closed buildings. Picnic areas and the surrounds will remain accessible.

Safety alerts: Malabar Headland rifle range operation schedule

For public safety, the eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park is closed during ANZAC Rifle Range operations. Tese closures may occur with little or no notice. Do not enter the eastern  section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:

  • Red flags are flying above the range
  • There are warning signs at the park's entry points (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark)
  • Park entry gates are closed.

When is the eastern section of the park closed?

  • Every Saturday
  • 1st Sunday of the month
  • 3rd Sunday of the month

These closures apply to the eastern section of the park only (Boora Point walking track). The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open. The range operation schedule is provided by the NSW Rifle Association.

A 1080 fox baiting program is underway in Towra Point Nature Reserve, finishing on Tuesday 31 March 2020.

The program is part of the NPWS FoxTap program, and is designed to control foxes to assist in recovery of little terns and pied oystercatchers.

1080 poison can affect non-target species like domestic dogs and cats. Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Safety alerts: Audley precinct in wet weather

Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.

    Areas may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • There are no park entry fees in La Perouse area but you'll need to pay to tour Bare Island. Park entry fees apply in the Kurnell area of Kamay Botany Bay National Park, only.
