Closed areas: Malabar Headland Anzac Rifle Range

1. For public safety, the eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park is closed during ANZAC Rifle Range operations.

These closures may occur with little or no notice.

2. When is the eastern section of the park closed?

  • Every Saturday from 7.30am

3. Do not enter the eastern section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:

  • Red flags are flying above the range
  • There are warning signs at the park's entry points (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark)
  • Park entry gates are closed

These closures apply to the eastern section of the park only (Boora Point walking track).

The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open.

The range operation schedule is provided by the NSW Rifle Association.

Closed areas: Access to Warumbul Road and picnic precinct closed

The Warumbul Road and picnic area in Royal National Park are closed for management purposes. This closure will remain in place and may be extended depending on conditions. Check this website for details. For more information, contact the local NPWS Visitor Centre on 02 9542 9648.

Closed areas: Visitor area closures

The exhibition and museum space in Kurnell Visitor Centre remains closed until further notice. NPWS is monitoring visitation to this park with the potential to close it entirely when peak capacity is reached. This is to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. 

Walking tracks in the park currently remain open. However, if you're visiting the park, please remember that social distancing and gathering size limits apply.

Closed areas: Bridge on Bonnievale to Maianbar walking track damaged

As a result of recent storms, the footbridge on the walking track between Bonnie Vale and Maianbar has been damaged. The bridge will remain open however visitors are asked not to stop or linger while crossing the bridge. For more information please call the Royal National Park Visitor Centre on 02 9542 0648.

Safety alerts: Audley precinct in wet weather

Access across the Audley Weir may be closed due to river flooding during times of wet weather. During wet weather, NPWS advise park visitors to visit Live Traffic NSW to ascertain the status of the Weir crossing before commencing their travel to the park. During times of closure, access to Bundeena, Maianbar residential areas, Royal National Park Visitor Centre, including the Audley Dance hall and cafe, is via McKell Ave Waterfall.

Park info

  • in the La Perouse area of Kamay Botany Bay National Park in the Sydney and surrounds region
  • 7am–8.30pm November to March. 7am–7.30pm April to October

    Areas may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • There are no park entry fees in La Perouse area but you'll need to pay to tour Bare Island. Park entry fees apply in the Kurnell area of Kamay Botany Bay National Park, only.
