Other planned events: Walking track closures and delays

Helicopter operations will take place from 8.30am to 4pm on Wednesday 17 August 2022 in Royal National park. The following areas will be affected:

  • Royal Coast track - Track closed between Figure 8 Pools and Otford lookout
  • Palm Jungle Loop track closed.
  • Figure 8 Pools - Access to Figure 8 Pools will only be possible from the Garawarra Farm carpark
  • Wedding Cake Rock - Short delays on Coast Track between Bundeena Drive and Marley Beach
  • Lilyvale walking track closed

Closed areas: Bare Island bridge closed for upgrade

The Bare Island bridge will be closed from Monday 15 August 2022 for 3 to 5 days, depending on weather conditions. Works are being conducted to upgrade the condition of the stairs leading down to the rocks around the island.

Safety alerts: Portion of Lower Pipeline Fire Trail washed away

There is a large portion of the Lower Pipeline Fire Trail at Adina Gully that has eroded away due to the recent rainfall events. Bushwalkers and cyclists are urged to stick close to the eastern side of the eroded sections.

Construction of a new whale watching platform is underway at Cape Solander. The road from Yena to Cape Solander is closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians and cyclists.
