Closed areas: Park closure for Aerial Control Operations - Monday 26th June 2023
An aerial pest control operation is scheduled to take place in Warrumbungle National Park on Monday 26th June 2023.
During operations, some areas of the park will be closed and clearly signposted with closure notices. The closures will not impact access to walking tracks and visitor areas.
The following trails and fire trails will be closed for the duration of the operation:
- Yahringerie Loop Firetrail
- Wheoh Peaks Trail
- Greenslopes Trail
- Rio Park Firetrail
- Tibuc Firetrail and
- Blackjack Firetrail
This pest control program will target goats and pigs and aims to reduce the significant impact they have on heritage sites, native plants and animals, including threatened species. Other pest animals, including cats, foxes and wild dogs will be targeted if observed during the operation.

Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is conducting a ground baiting program in Pilliga State Conservation Area and Pilliga National Park (Gilgai section) from 8 May 2023 to 8 August 2023.
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Pincham Trail partial closure for maintenance
Part of Pincham Trail, between the base of The Breadknife to Lughs Throne, is closed from Wednesday 26 April 2023 for maintenance and renewal work. The current estimated reopening of this track section is late June 2023.
The closed area can be bypassed via the Dagda Shortcut Track. You can still access Grand High Tops Summit, via a 1.1km return walk from Dagda Gap.

Closed areas: Roads closed in Pilliga Forest
Some roads in Pilliga West State Conservation Area and Pilliga West National Park are closed due to subsidence damage. Take care when driving in the area. Please obey all closure notices.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) carries out continuous 1080 baiting in Warrumbungle National Park for the control of foxes. Meat baits and canid pest ejectors (CPE's) containing 1080 sodium fluoroacetate poison are laid in the Park north of Timor Road/John Renshaw Parkway.
All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected, and 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
