NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting ongoing aerial baiting programs. Aerial baiting is scheduled between the periods of Sunday 8th September until Sunday 22nd September 2024. (Subject to suitable weather conditions and any early bushfire response conditions.)
The operation will use meat baits with Poison 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate), for the control of feral animals including wild dogs and foxes.
This program is an important part of the Areas commitment to pest animal control and assist in delivering a General Biosecurity Duty under the Biosecurity Act.
Aerial baiting will occur within Goonoo National Park & State Conservation Area, and also within Coolbaggie Nature Reserve, Cobbora SCA, and Breelong National Park.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighboring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Ongoing wet weather has impacted the roads in this reserve, leaving them washed out and/or under water for long periods of time. While they have dried out, access trails can still have rough surfaces and require maintenance. Please reduce speed, drive to conditions, and be aware of your surroundings. Heavy plant may be working in the area and care should be taken if you come across them.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a ground baiting program between Sunday 1 September 2024 and Saturday 1 March 2025 in Goobang National Park. The program involves the use of Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE) that contain 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.

Closed areas: Riley's Dam closure for redevelopment and visitor day use area enhancement.
NPWS staff and appropriate contractors will be undertaking development work at Riley's Dam.
This work will be to, formalize access and parking areas, and will be established by the installation of bollards, to restrict vehicles entering designated rehabilitation areas.
A new picnic area including shelters, and picnic tables will be established, as part of this development activity.
New access gates will be installed to allow NPWS and emergency service vehicles access to maintenance tracks.
Rehabilitation of these areas will include introduction of woody debris onto tracks (material will be sourced from track-clearing activities elsewhere in the park), direct seeding and planting of tube-stock, with species including Allocasuarina ssp. (habitat for the Glossy Black-cockatoo) and ironbark (species favoured by the Regent Honeyeater).
Open intact grassy areas will be retained as glades within the precinct.
NPWS staff are working cooperatively with ILUA members of the Tubba-Gah community to introduce a yarning circle which will be delineated by introducing large stones into a clearing at the back of (north of) the day-use / picnic area.
With the scale and scope of this project, the Riley's Dam site will be closed to the public for safety reasons, as the area will be a construction zone until the work is complete in late September 2024.
Signage will be present at the site.
