Safety alerts: Rough surfaces and deep water in the creek crossings on Dripping Rock and Terarra Creek fire trails.

Due to ongoing rain, the usually dry Terarra Creek is now flowing.

The creek crosses the vehicle trail a number of times between the park entrance and Terarra Creek campground.

As of 10 November there is still deep water in some of the creek crossings. The creek crossings all have either a concrete culvert or rock base. However the vehicle trails are a natural surface, or gravel, and so are prone to developing pot holes in ongoing wet weather. To cross these creek crossings, vehicles with high ground clearance are required.

Visitors are requested to carry out their own risk assessment prior to driving through any waterways and caution should be taken at all times when travelling. Please take care and drive to the conditions.

In addition a recent thunderstorms activity has further impacted the natural surface road condition causing some severe washouts on the eastern side of Terarra Creek campground preventing vehicle access to Dripping Rock day use area.  The road has now been closed to all vehicles on the eastern side of the campground.  Access to the track head for Chinamens Garden Walking Track and Mount Nangar walking track will have to be on foot from the campground.

Please do not drive around road closed signs. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please contact the NPWS Bathurst area office on 02 6332 7640 or visit the NSW National Parks safety page for park safety guidelines.
