Closed areas: Mount Canobolas Summit precinct closed for redevelopment
The Mount Canobolas Summit precinct will be closed for redevelopment works from 7am, Tuesday 8 March 2022 until further notice. Please refer back to this alert for reopening times as they will be announced closer to the works completion.
Due to continued unauthorised access to to the summit; Spring Glade, The Summits, Nature and Snowgum Walking Tracks have been closed. Orange View picnic area and Lookout remain open.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. Please note that there will be increased traffic of work machinery and vehicles on the road during this development and new speed limits will be in place.
The summit may need to be accessed for contractor or emergency access to the summit regarding telecommunication towers during this time. Please contact the local park office on 02 6332 7640 on weekdays. On weekends, call the duty officer number on 02 8275 1740.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ground baiting
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a ground baiting program using Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE) that contain 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program will be ongoing between Friday 29 January 2021 and Tuesday 31 August 2021 along management trails in Mount Canobolas State Conservation Area.
Readily identifiable 1080 poison signs have been positioned at trail entry points or trail junctions as well as other appropriate locations throughout the reserve.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
