Goulds Circuit walking track is closed from Tuesday 25 October 2022 for maintenance and renewal work. The track is expected to partially reopen as a shortened return walk in late 2022, and fully reopen by late March 2023.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (Castlereagh area) will be conducting a helicopter lifting operation on Tuesday 25 October 2022, weather permitting. Some areas in Warrumbungle National Park will be closed for half, to a full day during the operation, unless the closure is extended or rescheduled. 

The closed areas include:

  • West Spirey walking track
  • Pincham walking track (including the Breadknife and Grand High Tops) 
  • Goulds circuit
  • Spirey View
  • West Spirey 
  • Western High Tops
  • Cathedral and Arch
  • Bluff Mountain
  • Dagda Shortcut
  • Hurleys campground
  • Balor Hut and campground
  • Dows campground
  • Ogma campground

Closed areas: Areas closed due to weather event

Areas of Warrumbungle National Park will be closed due to severe weather, high rainfall and flash flooding predicted in the area.

Closures will affect the following areas:

  • Camp Pincham: closed Friday 7 October until Sunday 9 October 2022 (inclusive).
  • Camp Blackman and Walaay: closed Friday 7 October until Sunday 9 October 2022 (inclusive).
  • Camp Wambelong: Open, but may be closed at short notice.
  • Balor Hut / Camp, Danu Camp, Dows Camp, Ogma Camp, Burbie Camp: closed Friday 7 October and Saturday 9 October 2022.
  • Canyon Picnic area: closed Friday 7 October until Sunday 9 October 2022 (inclusive).

Tara Cave, Burbie Canyon, Wambelong Nature Trail and Campers link walking tracks will be closed whilst creek crossings are flooded.

These closures will be reviewed regularly and may be extended.

Closed areas: Gunneemooroo campground closed

Gunneemooroo campground in Warrumbungle National Park is currently closed due to boggy/damaged access and damage to infrastructure caused by heavy rainfall.  This closure will be reviewed regularly and updated as soon as infrastructure is repaired and conditions improve.
