Roadworks will be underway on Manns, Middle Ridge and South Chowan roads from Tuesday 13 October to Friday 23 October 2020. The roads may be uneven and slippery during this time. Drive safely and follow the directions of roadwork signs and NPWS staff. Look out for heavy machinery and drive appropriately.

Closed areas: Cutters Hut closed due to construction works

Cutters Hut within Cutters Camp campground is closed due to construction works. NPWS is currently upgrading Cutters Hut to create a new camp kitchen for visitors as well as completing stage 2 of the campground upgrade. Construction works may cause some noise disturbance to visitors.

Closed parks: Wollumbin National Park and State Conservation Area closed

Wollumbin National Park and State Conservation Area are closed to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. NPWS is working to reopen all parks where possible, however, some locations need to remain closed to ensure compliance with the current rules on public gatherings.

Some of the best views of Wollumbin can be found along Pinnacle walk and lookout in Border Ranges National Park. You can also try Goorgana walking track or Pholis Gap walking track in nearby Nightcap National Park, or Best of All lookout at Queensland’s Springbrook National Park.

Safety alerts: Tree removal from Forest Tops campground

On Wednesday 21 October 2020, contractors will be removing a dead tree from beside the toilet block in Forest Tops campground. The campground will remain open.

Toonumbar National Park is closed until Monday 30 November 2020 for the redevelopment of Iron Pot campground and picnic area. This closure includes Iron Pot Creek picnic area and Murray scrub walking track.

Closed areas: Booyong walking track

Booyong walking track between Sheepstation Creek and Forest Tops campgrounds is currently closed due to a number of fallen trees blocking the track and making access difficult.

Closed areas: Nightcap Range Road closure - roadworks

Nightcap Range Road in Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Conservation Area will be closed for roadworks from Tuesday 6 October to Friday 4 December 2020:

  • All main visitor areas will remain open
  • Rummery Park campground will remain open
  • Signs will be in place and the road will be closed just north of the Telephone Road trailer carpark
  • You can still access Minyon Falls and Rummery Park campground via Minyon Drive via Rosebank
  • You can still access the Telephone Road trailer carpark and multi-use trails via Nightcap Range Road

Other incidents: 1080 wild fox control program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife will be laying 1080 ground baits in Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve (north of the river) from Tuesday 28 July 2020 to Tuesday 22 December 2020 to control the introduced European red fox.

The fox control program is part of the NSW Saving our Species Program for the conservation of priority threatened species such as beach stone curlew and the pied oystercatcher.

1080 warning signs will be placed at all authorised access points to the baiting location.

1080 is lethal to domestic dogs. Please restrain pets and working dogs and ensure they do not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning please seek immediate veterinary assistance. Domestic dogs are prohibited in all NSW National Parks, penalties apply for non-compliance.
