Fox baiting will continue in Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve, north of the Brunswick River until Friday 14 December 2018. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be controlling the introduced predator, European Red Fox, using buried 1080 ground baits. 1080 canid ejectors may also be used during this period if necessary.

1080 warning signs are at main entrance points to the nature reserve where fox baits are being laid. This includes:

  • North Head Road
  • Harry's Hill
  • North wall, Brunswick River
  • North Beach (also known as Christmas Beach)
  • Oyster Lease Road

Fox control is essential to help protect threatened beach-nesting shorebirds in this reserve during their breeding seasons. These are the Beach Stone-curlew (Critically Endangered) and the Pied Oystercatcher (Endangered). Dogs are prohibited in national parks and nature reserves. All visitors and pet owners should be aware of the risk of lethal 1080 poisoning to dogs and keep their domestic animals to designated areas. Always avoid bait stations and ejectors.
