Other planned events: Aerial baiting program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting aerial baiting programs from Wednesday 5 May until Friday 21 May 2021, excluding weekends.
The program will impact the following sections of Kosciuszko National Park:
- Thredbo Valley
- Lower Snowy
- Numbla Vale
- Byadbo Wilderness Area
Baiting programs will also be undertaken in Merriangaah and Quidong Nature Reserves. All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
These programs will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison and are part of an integrated pest animal control strategy, aimed at minimising the impacts of wild dog and foxes on neighbouring stock. Baiting programs will be conducted in the Thredbo/Ingebyra, Dalgety/Paupong and Corrowong/Tombong/Merriangaah wild dog plan areas.
Please remember that domestic pets are not permitted in National Parks. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs) and must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
