Closed parks: Closed parks due to wet weather

Due to heavy overnight rain and wet weather the following reserves in the Lower Darling Area are closed, Mungo National Park, Euston Regional Park and Kemandok National Park.

These closures may be further extended pending local weather conditions.

Closed areas: Corowa precinct closed for road maintenance

The Corowa precinct will be closed from 9am Monday 12 July to 5pm Friday 30 July 2021 for road maintenance. During this time the following campgrounds will be closed:

  • Hidden Beach campground
  • Foords campground
  • Dairy Lagoon campground
  • Federation campground

To ensure visitor safety the gate into the precinct will be locked and no public access will be permitted.

Closed areas: Boomanoomana precinct closed due to flooding

The Boomanoomana precinct will be closed from Thursday 22 July until further notice due to flooding. During this time visitor access will not be permitted. The following campgrounds are closed and will be re-opened once water subsides:

  • Little Pebble Beach
  • Sandy Beach
  • One Tree Beach
  • Lagoon campground

The Cottadidda precinct is closed from Thursday 22 July until further notice due to flooding. During this time all precincts will be locked and the following designated campgrounds will be closed to the public:

  • O'Dwyers campground
  • Backhouses Beach

  • Pump campground

The Central West Area offices in Dubbo and Bathurst are closed to the public while office staff are directed to work from home in line with the current NSW Health orders.

The Towers is closed to rock climbing and abseiling from 1 July to Friday 31 December 2021 for peregrine falcon breeding season. No rock climbing or abseiling are permitted at The Rock Nature Reserve during this time.

Mungo self-guided drive tour road (from Red Top lookout) remains closed. Detailed environmental assessments and planning needs to be conducted before maintenance works can be completed.

Mungo bicycle loop trail is currently closed to enable trail maintenance repair works. NPWS staff are planning to carry out the works during winter.

Other options for cycling include Walls Road and Zanci pastoral loop. These park roads are shared with vehicles, so please take care and cycle with caution.

Yanga National Park office is currently closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions. You can still contact us by phone or email for information.

Visitors can still access the historic Yanga Homestead precinct between 8.30am and 4.30pm daily. A self-guided tour offering exclusive access inside the homestead is available from Balranald Visitor Information Centre or Balranald Caravan Park. Call the visitor information centre on 1800 444 043 for more information.

Safety alerts: Potential for unexploded ordnances (UXO) in Livingstone National Park

There is a Substantial risk of unexploded ordinances (UXO) within Livingstone National Park.

There is signage erected at all entrances to the risk area.

If you are driving, bushwalking or mountain biking in the area, you must keep to the formed trails within the UXO risk area. No camping or digging of any kind is permitted within the risk area.

Safety alerts: Heavy vehicles on Tin Mines trail

There are currently logging trucks using Tin Mines trail between the Ferndale pine plantation and Tunnel Road. Tin Mines trail is the main access into Woomargama National Park.

The logging company have the trail well signposted indicating the presence of heavy vehicles and asking motorists to take extreme care.
