Closed areas: Nightcap National Park partially closed

Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Conservation Area are open with some closed areas and facilities due to flood damage sustained in the recent floods and impacts of ongoing wet weather. This alert will be updated on Monday 6 June.

The following areas are now open and accessible via Newton Drive or Nightcap Range Road:

  • Peate's Mountain track
  • Mount Nardi trail head
  • Mount Matheson loop
  • Rummery Park campground (only accessible via Nightcap Range Road)
  • Big Scrub loop walk (access via Rocky Creek Dam picnic area only)
  • Rocky Creek Dam walk (access via Rocky Creek Dam picnic area only)

The following areas will re-open on Monday 6 June 2022 and will only accessible via Nightcap Range Road:

  • Minyon Falls picnic area and lookout 
  • Boggy Creek walk 

The following areas remain closed until further notice:

  • Minyon Drive access road
  • Minyon Grass picnic area
  • Minyon loop walking track
  • Protestors Falls walking track
  • Terania Creek picnic area
  • Historic Nightcap track
  • Pholis Gap walking track
  • Whian Whian mountain bike trails

Note Minyon Drive access road is closed until 1 July 2022 due to road repair works. All visitors are to use either Nightcap Range Road or Newton Drive.

Closed areas: Minyon Falls visitor precinct and loop walk closed

Minyon Falls picnic area and viewing platform will be closed until Monday 6 June, pending successful completion of flood repair works and impacts of the latest weather event.

However, other walks and visitor facilities are now open:

  • Mount Nardi picnic area, Mount Matheson loop and Pholis Gap walking tracks, accessible from Newton Drive
  • Big Scrub Loop and Rocky Creek Dam walk, accessible from Rocky Creek Dam picnic area
  • Rummary Park campground

Border Ranges National Park is closed until 19 June 2022 for repair and maintenance works. The closure will be reviewed on Friday 3 June 2022.

Wollumbin National Park, formerly known as Mount Warning National Park, remains closed until the end of June 2022 due to the impacts of widespread flooding in the region.

The closure is also to allow further consultation with the Aboriginal community and other key stakeholders about the future management of the site.

Closed areas: Rummery Park campground open - Sites 1-6 and Goanna group site closed

Rummery Park campground is now partially open . Sites 1-6 and Goanna group site remain closed until Friday 17 June 2022 due to wet conditions.

The campground can only be accessed via Nightcap Range Road. Minyon Drive access road remains closed for repairs until further notice. 

Walking options are limited with Peate's Mountain track the only track currently open near the campground. 

The following tracks and areas are re-opening on Monday 6 June 2022: 

  • Minyon Falls picnic area
  • Boggy Creek walking track

Due to major road works, Minyon Drive will be closed from Monday 16 May to Monday 20 June between the park boundary and Rummery Park campground. This closure may be postponed or extended depending on weather and pending successful completion of works.

There will be no access to the park from the eastern end of Minyon Drive for the duration of the closure. All visitors are to use Nightcap Range Road to access Rummery Park campground and Peate's Mountain Track.
