The Guthega Track Head vehicle drop off area and turning circle is closed to vehicles for construction works from Monday 10 October 2025 to Friday 1 May 2026.
Walkers can still access the Snowies Alpine Walk and Illawong Walk. NPWS are constructing a new toilet facility at the Guthega Track Head.

Snowy Hydro is conducting maintenance works on Tumut Ponds Dam wall from Tuesday 10 March to Wednesday 13 May 2026. Expect delays and partial closures on the Khancoban to Kiandra Drive (Snow Ridge Road) at Tumut Ponds Dam on the following dates:

Woomargama NP/SCA - Tin Mines Trail - Eastern section Closed to Vehicles
Tin Mines Trail is closed in the Eastern section of the park from Galvin's Rd entrance into the Park along Tin Mines trail through to Mandaring Trail (12 km section of trail).
Entrance to camping areas within Woomargama NP can be accessed from the western section of the park from Tunnel Rd or from the Eastern side of the park from Yesches rd then along Cockatoo Creek Trail.
Closure for road maintenance works will be from 7/4/26 to 29/5/26.

Safety alerts: Geehi Dam Road - changed road conditions
Road repair works are to be carried out on Geehi Dam Road from early March to 6 June 2026. The worksite is located approximately 2km south of Geehi Dam. The Geehi Dam Road remains open but will be reduced to one lane of traffic with give-way signage at the road repair site. There is increased heavy vehicle movement on the Geehi Dam Road over this period and the Middle Creek Former Snowy Scheme Site is to be used for materials storage for the project.
To assist in your journey, please use caution when driving on the Geehi Dam Road and do not enter areas of construction.

Other planned events: Notification of Ongoing 1080 Baiting - Wild Dogs/Foxes
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from 25th February 2026 to 25th August 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral animals including wild dogs and foxes.
The program will take place in Kosciuszko National Park and Clarkes Hill, Bogandyera and Jingellic Nature Reserves.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

There is an increase in heavy machinery and light vehicle movements on the Snowy Mountains Highway (between Cooma to Tumut) and Link and Tantangara Roads within Kosciuszko National Park, due to the Snowy 2.0 project.
You are likely to encounter heavy machinery and trucks when accessing Wares Yards campground. This will continue for a number of years and involves the use of specialised heavy vehicle combinations for transporting materials associated with the project.

Closed areas: Tantangara Reservoir partial closure
Some parts of Tantangara Reservoir will be closed intermittently due to Snowy 2.0 construction activities involving controlled blasts. Full exclusion zones will be established prior to and during blast operations. The areas affected are:
- Tantangara Reservoir adjacent to the Snowy 2.0 construction site and Reservoir boat ramp, adjacent to the Tantangara Dam wall may have intermittent closures due to construction activities.
