Closed areas: Bare Island stairs closed for upgrade

The Bare Island Bridge will be closed from Monday 15 August for 3 to 5 days depending on the weather. Works are being conducted to upgrade the condition of the stairs leading down to the rocks around the island.

Closed areas: Road closed for upgrades

Construction of a new whale watching platform is underway at Cape Solander. The road from Yena to Cape Solander is closed to vehicles. Pedestrian and cyclist access along Cape Solander Drive will reopen by Friday 15 July 2022 following resurfacing.

Walking tracks remain open.

Closed areas: Monument Footpath damaged by flood waters, partially closed

A small section of Monument Footpath has been temporarily closed off due to flood water damage, about 650 metres from the start of the path at the intersection of Captain Cook Drive and Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell.

Closed areas: Closed areas due to rifle range operations

The eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park will be closed on the following dates / times due to rifle range operations:

  • Every Saturday, 8am to 5pm
  • Every 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month, 8am to 5pm
  • Schools shooting practice and competition week Monday 11 July to Friday 15 July 2022 inclusive
  • NSWRA Competitions Week - Monday 5 September to Sunday 11 September 2022 inclusive

Do not enter the eastern section of the park (including Boora Point walking track) when:

  • Red flags are flying above the range
  • The 'rifle range in use' warning signs are displayed at the park entry (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark)
  • Park entry gates are closed

The western section of the park (Western Escarpment walking track) is open when the rifle range is in use.

Lady Carrington Drive has been impacted by the recent rain. The surface is eroded and waterlogged. Use caution on rough and slippery surfaces. A portion of the track has been impacted by a landslip, trail users should pass this section without stopping.

The Ironbark Flat toilets, next to Royal National Park Visitor Centre, are closed for upgrade works. There are temporary toilets on the northern side of the building, and the existing accessible restroom beside the Royal National Park Visitor Centre is open.

    La Perouse park entry gate closed to vehicles between 7pm and 5am all year.

    Areas may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • There are no park entry fees in La Perouse area but you'll need to pay to tour Bare Island. Park entry fees apply in the Kurnell area of Kamay Botany Bay National Park, only.
