NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting aerial weed control operations in the Mann River and Guy Fawkes River corridors from Tuesday 27 February until Friday 1 March 2024. This work will not impact any visitor areas, but please be aware that helicopters will be operating in the following reserves during this period:

  • Barool NP
  • Nymboida NP and SCA
  • Guy Fawkes River NP

The western 6km of Waihou road within Sherwood NR will be closed for road maintenance from Monday 29/1/2024 to 29/2/2024. Frazers Reef road, Bundjalung National Park will be closed from 6am, Thursday 29th of February till 6am, Friday 1st of March 2024.

 

Both roads will be undergoing essential maintenance.

Mibanbah-Blackrocks campground will be closed from 10am, Sunday 17 March to 2pm, Wednesday 20 March for scheduled aerial pest control program in Bundjalung National Park. The campground is being closed for the safety of the public during the operation. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Other planned events: Notice of fox baiting program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program in Yuraygir National Park from Monday 1 January 2024 to Sunday 30 June 2024.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program is designed to minimise fox impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species. Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting area. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW NPWS-managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs) and should be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and also must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Temporary closure - Lower Ebor Falls and Ebor Walking Track (part)

The Upper Ebor Falls visitor precinct in Guy Fawkes River NP has reopened to the public following bushfire reconstruction works, with facilities including new viewing platforms, picnic areas and toilets. The Lower Ebor Falls visitor precinct, part of Ebor Falls Road and sections of the Ebor walking track between the Upper and Lower Falls will remain temporarily closed to allow for construction works to be completed.

Closed areas: Road closure

Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.

The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

Please note:

  • Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
  • Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.
