NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program in the following areas from Saturday 6 May 2023 to Saturday 20 May 2023:

  • Towarri National Park
  • Wallabadah Nature Reserve
  • Woolooma National Park
  • Crawney Pass National Park
  • Ben Halls Gap National Park and Nature Reserve
  • Camerons Gorge Nature Reserve and State Conservation Area
  • Barrington Tops Natiuonal Park an State Conservation Area
  • Currucabundi Group (Curracabundi National Park and State Conservation Area, Bretti Nature Reserve, Mernot Nature Reserve, Watchimbark Nature Reserve, Woko National Park, Monkeycot Nature Reserve, Coneac State Conservation Area and Camels Hump Nature Reserve).
  • Copeland Tops State Conservation Area
  • Berrico Nature Reserve
  • The Glen Nature Reserve
  • Kathambhul Nature Reserve.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at authorised public entrances to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Safety alerts: Construction work - The Ruins campground and picnic area

The Ruins beach amenities block is temporarily closed from Monday 30 January due to construction works. Please avoid the construction zone and use the northern track to access Seven Mile Beach.

The main amenities block is still open for use.

Closed parks: Area Closed for Aerial Shooting Pest Control Operation

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will conduct an aerial pest animal control operation (aerial shooting) from 5th June to 9th June 2023 in:

  • Minimbah Nature Reserve
  • Bandicoot Island Nature Reserve
  • Regatta Island Nature Reserve
  • Wallis Island Nature Reserve
  • Yahoo Island Nature Reserve

The operation will also include some adjoining NSW Crown Land and Mid Coast Council managed land where consent has been provided.

The program will primarily target feral deer as part of a state-wide conservation program and to address biosecurity obligations. The program aims to reduce the significant impact feral deer have on threatened species and to reduce the economic and public safety impacts on neighbouring properties and members of the public.

The operational area will be CLOSED to all visitors when aerial shooting is underway.

Warning closure signs will be placed at relevant visitor entry points. Please do not enter closed areas during this time.

Closed areas: Road closures due to severe weather event

Some roads within Myall Lakes National Park are temporarily closed due to the impacts of recent severe weather. The closed roads are:

  • Nerong Road (southern section)
  • Masons Bend trail
  • Goochs Road and Sugarloaf trail.

NPWS are working on repairs and will reopen the roads once completed.

Little River trail in Ghin-Doo-Ee National Park is closed until further notice due to significant storm damage. NPWS is working on repairing the damage as soon as possible.

Sandy Point Trail in Crowdy Bay National Park is closed from 10th May to 20th June 2023 while repairs and maintenance to the track surface are underway.

Closed parks: Reserves closed due to severe weather event

Update April 2023: Contractors have commenced work on the landslips in The Glen NR, with the bridge/culvert works to follow. The Glen Nature Reserve remains closed to all visitors due to a number of failed bridges/culverts.

A number of NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service reserves are closed until further notice due to damage from severe weather event. These include:

  • The Glen Nature Reserve
  • Berrico Nature Reserve

Landslips, collapsed bridges and culverts and hazardous trees have been reported across many areas. For your safety, please avoid these reserves until damage assessments can be made and any safety issues rectified.

Closed areas: The Mungo Track detour due to flood damage

The boardwalk between Tamboi trail and Brambles Green campground is closed due to flood damage.

You will need to follow the detour on The Mungo Track at Mungo Brush. Please follow the walking track to the beach and then walk south for 4km.

Take the slashed management trail which connects the beach to Mungo Brush Road to rejoin The Mungo Track route.
