The Quarry Rd Hazard Reduction burn in Berowra Valley National Park was implemented from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th April, with fire fighters continuing to extinguish trees and patrol the area until Thursday 16th April.
Walking tracks, fire trails and campgrounds within the burn area have been assessed for visitor safety and re-opened to the public, however the condition of fire-impacted vegetation may change at any time, including as a result of weather events such as strong winds.
We advise visitors to proceed with care in the weeks following the hazard reduction burn. If you come across a tree that has fallen or other damage along your walk, please provide details to the NPWS office via ph: (02) 8448 0400 or email: npws.northwesternsydney@environment.nsw.gov.au

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is undertaking construction of a new DDA‑compliant boardwalk and lookout platform to improve visitor access to the whale sculpture at the foreshore.
The works include selective vegetation clearing, installation of footings, a stainless-steel substructure, balustrades and fibre‑reinforced polymer (FRP) decking to complete the boardwalk and lookout platform.
Once finished, the new structure will provide safer, more inclusive access for all visitors.
For your own safety, please do not access the fenced area and always follow directions from contractors and NPWS staffs.

Skylight cave is permanently closed to visitors due to serious safety risks. The cave is midway down an unstable cliff, and the risk of falling off the cliff edge while trying to reach it makes it very dangerous.

Berowra walking track is partially closed from Apple Tree Bay to the Mount Ku-ring-gai access track until further notice. There continues to be a threat of rockfalls and foreshore slumps due to slope instability caused by previous weather events. NPWS is updating detailed assessments to undertake essential repair works.

- Walkers heading west should exit Flat Rock track at the eastern end of Killarney Drive and use Killarney Drive until you reach Downpatrick Street. Then walk down the street and re-enter Flat Rock track from the Downpatrick Street fire trail.
- Walkers heading east should exit Flat Rock track at the Downpatrick Street fire trail and use Downpatrick Street, then Killarney Drive until you reach the end of Killarney Drive. Re-enter Flat Rock track from the Killarney Drive entrance.
