Central Coast Council is redeveloping Dark Corner boat ramp and carpark at Patonga. During construction, access to Great North walk at this location in Brisbane Water National Park will be diverted to a pedestrian track along the beach. The project is expected to be finished by the end of August 2019.

Bellamy trail in Berowra Valley National Park is closed due to unsatisfactory bridge conditions and will remain closed until further notice. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be using 1080 poison (sodium fluoroacetate) for fox control as buried baits in Bouddi National Park. The program will start on Tuesday 30 April 2019 and finish by Tuesday 25 June 2019.

Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. Neighbours and visitors are reminded that 1080 poison baits are lethal to domestic pets.

All areas will have 1080 baiting signs at access points to areas where baiting is taking place. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

We suggest that working dogs be restrained to ensure they do not enter the baiting location during poisoning operations. Or, muzzle dogs if they need to work the baiting location during and after the baiting program.

This program is being carried out as part of a broader coordinated control program to reduce the impacts of foxes on wildlife. If you would like to be involved in the cooperative program, please call Greater Sydney Local Land Services on 1300 795 299.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be undertaking a wild dog and fox control program in Yengo National Park. Ejectors and baits will be laid in the park from Monday 30 April to Wednesday 30 October 2019. The program will use Canid Pest Ejectors and meat baits. Do not touch baits or ejector devices.

1080 poison is lethal to dogs and cats. Visitors and neighbours are reminded that domestic animals are not permitted in national parks or nature reserves at any time. It is recommended that you tie your dogs up during this time if they like to roam. If you suspect your domestic dog has been in the park and triggered an ejector or taken a bait, take them to a vet immediately. Warning signs will be displayed to notify park visitors.

Yambo Forest Road in Jilliby State Conservation Area is not suitable for 2WD vehicles due to rain and vehicle damage. 4WD access is possible from Dooralong Road through to the Lemon Tree Road intersection. Lemon Tree Road remains closed.

NSW Roads and Maritime Services are undertaking essential maintenance work on Mooney Mooney Creek Bridge, Old Pacific Highway. Users of the Great North Walk may experience temporary delays at this location between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays.

The anticipated completion date is August 2019.

  • Two picnic areas within the park close of an evening:

    • Girrakool picnic area is open 9am to 5pm every day
    • Somersby Falls picnic area is open 8am to 8pm during daylight savings and is open 8am to 5pm at other times

    Other areas of Brisbane Water National Park will be open at all times, however may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

    $8 per vehicle per day applies at Girrakool and Somersby Falls picnic areas. The park has coin-operated pay and display machines - please bring correct coins.
