Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive partial closure

Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive is closed between Mount Babyl north to Peacock Creek Road until approximately Friday 24 July due to wet conditions.

Please use Iron Pot Creek Road or Sextonville Road to access Peacock Creek campground as there will be no access via Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive until the road re-opens.

Telco Companies & related persons that require access to Mount Babyl trail and tower area, can access Mount Babyl using a KRB key only.

The private Airbnb cabin off Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will remain accessible via Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive from the south via the Bruxner Highway, contact the owner for more information.

Safety alerts: Peacock Creek campground access limitations

Access to Peacock Creek campground is limited for some vehicles during inclement weather due to deterioration of local roads. See below best options to access the campground whilst repairs and upgrades take place on local roads:

  1. Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive via Bruxner Highway (south) - best access when open, 2WD suitable in dry weather only. Intermittently closed during periods of wet weather.
  2. Sextonville Road via Summerland Way (East) - Most weather access suitable for most vehicles. /**/
  3. Iron Pot Creek Road via Kyogle (north) - Suitable for all vehicles in most weather. Drive from Kyogle towards Toonumbar on Afterlee Road to the Dam Access Road, then turn left onto Brays Road, right onto Logan's Bridge Road and right onto Iron Pot Creek Road. Follow signs to Bonalbo once on Brays Road.
  4. Peacock Creek Road via Clarence way (west) - 4WD only, not suitable for towing. Two steep creek crossings not suitable for 2WD/AWD, badly damaged road surface with very large pot holes.

Safety alerts: Peacock Creek road works 22 June to 18 July

Peacock Road will be subject to road repair works from 22 June to approximately 18 July which may cause some delays and temproary closures.

Works will occur during business hours, Monday to Friday with traffic management in place.

All road users advised to drive to conditions, follow directions of traffic managers and adhere to all signage.

Safety alerts: Construction Works Along Bike Trails

Please be advised scheduled construction works will be underway along the bike trails in Currys Gap State Conservation Area from 25 May 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Work hours are :

  • Mon-Fri: 6:00am to 6:00pm
  • Saturdays: 6:00am to 1:00pm

Vehicle access in Boonoo Boonoo NP is restricted to a maximum of 40km/h throughout the park, and some areas with shared pedestrian access are restricted to 10km/h. Gravel roads can become slippery at times, particularly in wet weather, so please exercise caution and adhere to the sign-posted limits.
