Closed areas: Areas closed for aerial pest control operation
Parts of Kosciuszko National Park will be closed Monday 1 March to Friday 5 March 2021 for an aerial pest control operation. The closed areas are:
- The Cascades area, Chimneys Ridge and Charcoal Range (excluding Cascades, Ingeegoodbee and Nine Mile fire trails)
- Suggan Buggan Range
- Byadbo Wilderness Area
- Moyangul or Pinch River, upstream of Lookout Creek
There will be signs at the start of the closed walking tracks, and the closure will also be promoted at visitor information centres.
This operation will involve shooting, and is part of an ongoing multi-year program to reduce the impacts of deer and pigs on high conservation areas. Aerial shooting is not used to control horses in NSW national parks, and therefore horses will not be targeted as part of this program.
The program should be completed within the dates given above, pending weather and availability of resources.
