Closed areas: Warumbul Road and picnic area closed

The unsealed section of Warumbul Road is closed at the intersection of Rathane Road on week days from Tuesday 15 June to Friday 3 July 2021 for road maintenance work. This means there will be no access to Warumbul picnic area on week days during the road closure. The closure may be extended if weather delays are experienced.  

The sealed section of Warumbul Road will remain open for visitors accessing the Youthworks properties and cottages. 

Pedestrians and other road users should expect increased truck movements during this time. Visitors are advised to exercise caution.

Closed areas: Wattamolla lower loop carpark and picnic area closed

Improvements to the lower loop carpark and picnic area have commenced. These works are estimated to take approximately 6 months, and the carpark and picnic area will will reopen in October 2021.

Alternative access through Wattamolla for the Royal Coast track will be available and signposted.

Access to the beach, amenities building, upper carpark areas and Providential Point will remain open.

Due to the temporary closure of the lower loop carpark, please note:

  • Large vehicles and buses over 8.8m cannot access Wattamolla
  • Do not enter Wattamolla Road from Sir Bertram Stevens Drive
  • There is no safe area to park or manoeuvre at Wattamolla or along Wattamolla Road

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting baiting using approved meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program run from Monday 24 May 2021 to Monday 28 June 2021 in the following areas:

  • Burragorang State Conservation Area - in the vicinity of Oakdale and Werrombi
  • Nattai National Park - in the vicninity of Oakdale and Lakesland
  • Upper Nepean State Conservation Area - in the vicinity of Diamond Fields Road, Mittagong
  • Joadja Nature Reserve
  • Bangadilly National Park.

Warning signs will be displayed. Visitors are reminded not to handle or disturb any baits. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance. Baits may remain active after the dates specified.

This program is part of a joint control program being coordinated by NPWS in conjunction with the South East Local Land Services to assist with the ongoing management of wild dog impacts on production properties.

Yeramba Lagoon loop walking track in Georges River National Park is closed from behind Henry Lawson Drive down to the lagoon.

The pedestrian bridge over the lagoon runout channel has been removed while the weir is being worked on. This section of track is impassable and has been closed off.

The Coast track at Burning Palms will be subject to closures due to a major upgrade taking place from Monday 22 March to 30 June 2021.

The track will be closed every Monday (8am) to Thursday (4pm) during the closure period. The track will remain open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Transport for New South Wales are currently undertaking land-based investigations in support of the reinstatement of the ferry wharves at La Perouse and Kurnell within Kamay Botany Bay National Park.

Safety alerts: Diversion on Mount Keira Ring track

The staircase on the western side of Mount Keira Road at the junction of Mount Keira Road and Queen Elizabeth Drive has been closed off for repairs. Please follow the relevant signage for a slight detour to the ring track at the crossing of Queen Elizabeth Drive.

If completing the loop in a clockwise direction: head north uphill of the closed staircase for roughly 50m until you come to an opening by the road. Take care crossing the road at this point and re-join the track at the usual entry point to the eastern side of the loop.

If completing the loop in an anticlockwise direction: when you get to Queen Elizabeth Drive crossing head north for roughly 50m from the point of entry to the western side of the loop. Re-join the track at this point.
