Other planned events: Roadworks on Manns Road, Middle Ridge Road and South Chowan Road
Roadworks will be underway on Manns, Middle Ridge and South Chowan roads from Tuesday 13 October to Friday 23 October 2020. The roads may be uneven and slippery during this time. Drive safely and follow the directions of roadwork signs and NPWS staff. Look out for heavy machinery and drive appropriately.

Closed areas: Cutters Hut closed due to construction works
Cutters Hut within Cutters Camp campground is closed due to construction works. NPWS is currently upgrading Cutters Hut to create a new camp kitchen for visitors as well as completing stage 2 of the campground upgrade. Construction works may cause some noise disturbance to visitors.

Closed parks: Wollumbin National Park and State Conservation Area closed
Wollumbin National Park and State Conservation Area are closed to protect the health and safety of our visitors and staff. NPWS is working to reopen all parks where possible, however, some locations need to remain closed to ensure compliance with the current rules on public gatherings.

Closed areas: Booyong walking track
Booyong walking track between Sheepstation Creek and Forest Tops campgrounds is currently closed due to a number of fallen trees blocking the track and making access difficult.

Closed areas: South Ballina Break Wall Road closed
The South Ballina Break Wall Road entrance is closed at Mobbs Bay due to traffic safety risks. Public vehicle access to South Break Wall is now prohibited. Walkers and cyclists can still access the closed section of road to get to the beach and break wall. Vehicles can still drive to the Mobbs Bay area within Richmond River Nature Reserve.
The closure will be reviewed at the end of November 2020 and is likely to be extended.
Please follow the directions of all signage and do not park in front of the boom gate as the area needs to be accessible for emergency service vehicles. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the NPWS Alstonville office 02 6627 0200.

Other incidents: 1080 wild fox control program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife will be laying 1080 ground baits in Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve (north of the river) from Tuesday 28 July 2020 to Tuesday 22 December 2020 to control the introduced European red fox.
The fox control program is part of the NSW Saving our Species Program for the conservation of priority threatened species such as beach stone curlew and the pied oystercatcher.
1080 warning signs will be placed at all authorised access points to the baiting location.
1080 is lethal to domestic dogs. Please restrain pets and working dogs and ensure they do not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning please seek immediate veterinary assistance. Domestic dogs are prohibited in all NSW National Parks, penalties apply for non-compliance.
