Other planned events: 1080 wild dog and fox pest management program underway
NSW National Parks is monitoring wild dogs and foxes and running a 1080 pest management program:
- Baiting is happening in Yuraygir National Park from Thursday 10 October 2019 until Tuesday 30 June 2020.
- Baiting is happening in Everlasting Swamp State Conservation Area and national park from Monday 14 October 2019 until Tuesday 30 June 2020.
Domestic pets, including dogs, are not permitted in national parks or reserves. 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baits are lethal to domestic dogs and cats. Please be aware of the baiting programs and avoid bait stations in all areas, at all times. There will be signs up in areas where baits have been laid, indicating the date the baits were placed.
These programs are run to protect threatened species identified in the NSW Fox Threat Abatement Plan and Saving our Species programs.
We encourage landholders to participate in control programs on private property. Contact North Coast Local Land Services to discuss and arrange programs. Delays may occur due to unsuitable weather conditions. NPWS may also run additional programs following these initial programs, depending on wild dog activity.
