Other planned events: Notice of 1080 baiting

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting baiting using approved meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.

The program will be from Wednesday 7 October to Wednesday 18 November 2020 in Upper Nepean State Conservation Area (in the vicinity of Diamond Fields Road, Mittagong), Joadja Nature Reserve and Bangadilly National Park.

This program is part of a joint control program being coordinated by NPWS in conjunction with the South East Local Land Services to assist with the ongoing management of wild dog impacts on production properties.

Domestic animals may be affected. Poison 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Residents should restrain domestic animals and ensure they do not enter the baiting location during poisoning operations. It is recommended that working dogs are muzzled if they are required to work near the baiting location during or after poisoning operations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance. Baits may remain active after the dates specified.

Warning signs will be displayed to notify the public about the poison program. Visitors are reminded not to handle or disturb any baits.
