Safety alerts: Diamond Head Road - changed conditions and scheduled works
2 September 2026 update:
- Diamond Head Road, from the northern (Dunbogan) entry point to Kylies Beach campground, was graded in mid-July.
- Diamond Head Road, to the south of Kylies Beach campground leading to Coralville Road, was graded in early-August.
- Crowdy Bay Road, between Coralville and Crowdy Head Road, was graded in late-August.
Diamond Head, Indian Head, and Kylies Beach campgrounds, and the Diamond Head walking tracks, are currently best accessed using Diamond Head Road from the northern park entry point via Laurieton/Dunbogan to minimise the length of driving on gravel roads.
Crowdy Gap campground is best accessed using Crowdy Bay Road from the southern park entry point via Harrington to minimise the length of driving on gravel roads.

Closed areas: Pest animal control Sea Acres National Park
Some areas in Sea Acres National Park are closed from 7pm, Friday 18 September to 7am, Monday 21 September 2026 for ground shooting of feral animals. The closed areas are:
- All areas of the park bounded by Lighthouse Road/Pacific Drive and Shelly Beach Road
- The Sea Acres Walking Track, Lighthouse Walking Tack, Miners Beach Walking Track, and the Port Macquarie Coastal Walk including all linking and adjoining trails
- Miners Beach
- Sunset Point headland
- Little Bay Beach
- Chiller's Bay

- This program will target deer. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including koala habitat and threatened species.
- Other pest animals, including pigs, goats, foxes, cats and wild dogs will be targeted if observed during the operation.

Some areas in Lake Innes Nature Reserve are closed from 7pm, Thursday 10 September to 7am, Sunday 13 September 2026 for ground shooting of feral animals. The closed areas are:

- The Googik Track and Boundary Trail including all linking and adjoining trails
- Bells Fire Trail including all linking and adjoining trails
- Innes Ruins Historical Site

Other planned events: Hat Head NP - Fox trapping operation
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a trapping program from Wednesday 19th August 2026 to Monday 7th September 2026. The operation will use soft jaw traps for the control of foxes.
The program will take place in Hat Head National Park along Killick & Smoky Beaches. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially on nesting shorebirds.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the trapping location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.

Bollard replacement works are being undertaken at Diamond Head campground. There will be some disturbance from machinery during construction hours 8am-5pm on weekdays. No work will be undertaken on weekends.

Safety alerts: Greens Dump Road closed due to damaged bridge
Greens Dump Road is closed to all vehicle traffic due to damaged bridges. The road will remain closed until further notice. Access to Bird Tree Picnic Area is not affected by this road closure.

Safety alerts: Slippery and eroded walking tracks - Coastal Walk
Recent rain events have resulted in some sections of the Coastal Walk in Sea Acres National Park becoming eroded and slippery. The affected sections are between Miners Beach and the carpark adjacent to the intersection of Lighthouse Road and Matthew Flinders Drive. Walkers proceeding with the walk should exercise caution and wear appropriate footwear.

Visitors are advised that the fire pits have been removed from Crowdy Gap campground as they were beginning to deteriorate, presenting a safety hazard to users.
Fires are not permitted on the ground. If you choose to have a fire you must bring your own portable fire pit or brazier. Braziers can be hired from Diamond Head campground if required.
Visitors must also bring in their own firewood and be aware of fire regulations and any fire bans in place.

Closed parks: Yessabah Reserve Permanently Closed
Access to Yessabah Nature Reserve is permanently closed to unauthorised personnel. The former quarry area has limestone rock faces that are unstable and prone to rock fall. Other areas of the reserve are geologically unstable.

Please be advised that the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital (managed by Koala Conservation Australia) next door to Roto House Historic Site will be closed for redevelopment until mid-2026.
The National Parks Roto House and its thriving café ‘Home at Roto House’ will continue to operate as normal, open 7days, 8:30-2pm.
