Closed areas: Border Ranges National Park walking tracks
The following areas are closed from Saturday 30 July 2022 due to recent severe flooding causing multiple treefalls and landslips:
- Booyong track
- Rosewood track
- Palm Valley track
- Brushbox Falls lookout
- Brindle Creek walking track
- Bar Mountain picnic area and walking tracks
- Bar Mountain circuit
- Falcorostrum loop
- Beech Glade track
- Bar Mountain lookout
These areas will open as soon as repairs are carried out and they are deemed safe for public access.
The following areas are open:
- Red Cedar Loop walking track
- Helmholtzia Loop walking track
- Pinnacle lookout and walking track
- Blackbutts lookout and picnic area
- Tweed Valley lookout
Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters, so you’ll need to reschedule your visit and avoid travel through areas in this park. The Bar Mountain area of Border Ranges National Park is closed for walking track maintenance work from Sunday 31 July to Wednesday 31 August 2022.

Closed areas: Limited access to Mount Babyl trail
Access to Mount Babyl trail it limited due to landslips and storm damage.
There is no access to Mount Babyl trail from the north via Peacock Creek Road/Sextonville Road due to a major landslip on Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive.
Access from the south is limited to LV 4WD only due to a rockfall which has only been partly cleared on Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive. Extreme care should be taken when driving through the rock fall area and the road should not be used during wet weather.

Safety alerts: Changed access to Border Ranges National Park
Access to Border Ranges National Park is via Lynchs Creek/Forest Road from Winagaree only. This is due to ongoing land slip repair works between Bar Mountain picnic area and the eastern boundary gate. As a result there is no direct access from the Murwillumbah/Barkers Vale direction.
Note access to Border Loop lookout and walk is from NSW only as the Lions Road is closed at the QLD border.

Richmond Range National Park is closed until further notice due to damage sustained in recent floods. This closure will be reviewed on Monday 26 September 2022.
For safety reasons, neighbour access to Western Boundary trail is limited to 4WD vehicles only. No trucks or heavy plant/machinery are permitted.
Access from Peacock Creek Road is strictly closed, with access only available from the south via the Bruxner Highway.
