NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program from 14 September 2026 to 29 September 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) grain for the control of feral pigs and 1080 meat baits for wild dogs and foxes.
The program will take place in Terry Hie Hie AA and Irrigappa as weather and seasonal conditions allow. Australian wildlife has a naturally high tolerance to 1080 and will not be negatively impacted.
The program is designed to minimise the impact of feral pigs, wild dogs and foxes on native vegetation, wildlife and neighbouring enterprises.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs), must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location nor be allowed to consume poisoned animals. If you suspect your dog or another animal has been exposed to poison, seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The Dangars Gorge precinct in Oxley Wild Rivers NP is strictly closed while visitor facilities are being upgraded. The areas that will be closed include:
- Dangars Gorge Campground
- Dangars Falls Picnic Area
- Dangars Falls lookouts
- McDirtys walking track
- Sailsbury Waters walking track

Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.
The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.
Please note:
- Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
- Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.
