Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ongoing baiting program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Monday 25 August 2025 to Monday 23 February 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and/or foxes.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species and will take place in:
- Araluen Nature Reserve
- Badja Swamps Nature Reserve
- Beowa National Park
- Berlang State Conservation Area
- Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
- Bournda National Park
- Bournda Nature Reserve
- Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
- Deua National Park
- Eurobodalla National Park
- Kooraban National Park
- Majors Creek State Conservation Area
- Mimosa Rocks National Park
- Monga National Park and State Conservation Area
- South East Forest National Park
- Wadbilliga National Park
Signs will be placed at the entry to baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands.
Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Green Cape Cottages and Telegraph Station closure
Green Cape Cottages and Telegraph Station bunkhouse are closed from Tuesday 1 July to Tuesday 30 December 2025 due to construction works. Contractors will be undertaking internal refurbishments, re-roofing and addressing ongoing moisture issues.
Please note, Green Cape lookout, carpark and surrounds will remain open. For your safety, please obey all signage and direction from NPWS staff and contractors.

Other planned events: Kangarutha Walking Track Closed - Helicopter Operations 23rd October
The Kangarutha Walking Track in Bournda National Park will be temporarily closed on Thursday 23rd October.
This closure will allow for helicopter operations to remove excess trackwork material and import rock for trackwork repairs.

Closed areas: Mimosa Rocks NP annual road works
Some roads in Mimosa Rocks National Park may be closed for short periods from 14th October 2025 until 31st October 2025. This is due to the annual road grading program. Traffic control signs will be in place. Road works may be extended and any extension will be posted as soon as possible. The affected roads are:
- Picnic Point Road
- Penders (Bithry Inlet) Road
- Middle Beach Road
- Gillards Beach Road

Closed areas: Part of the park closed for aerial shooting for feral animal control
The following sections of park will be closed to the public from 2pm Sunday 12 October until 2pm Friday 24 October 2025 for an aerial pest control operation:
- South East Forest National Park (Nunnock Swamp section) including:
- Alexanders Hut Campground
- Nunnock campground
- Postmans campground
The main thoroughfares through this area will remain open. However, residents, visitors and members of the public should not enter adjoining sections of the National Park that will be closed.
This program will involve aerial shooting during daylight hours. Feral species targeted under this program include deer, goats, pigs, foxes and other pests. It aims to reduce the significant impact they have on native plants and animals including threatened species.
Closure signs will be established at all visitor access points to the shooting area. Visitors should not enter the shooting area during the closure period.

Safety alerts: Gillards Beach access steps closed until further notice
The 5 southern beach access points and the day-use steps at Gillards Campground are currently closed due to severe erosion. Successive large seas have removed large amounts of sand from the beach resulting in these access points being unusable.
Park users staying in sites 1 to 28 should use the beach access steps to the north instead which is easily accessible via a short walk.
Beach access steps for sites 28 to 39 currently remain open.

Kanoonah Road in Coolangubra section of South East Forests National Park is closed from Myanba Falls Road through to the northern park boundary due to a major landslip.
