Closed areas: Hazardous conditions and aerial pest control operation
The southern section of Ben Boyd National Park (Green Cape Area) is closed due to bushfire damage and hazardous conditions. Large fires have impacted the southern section of the park including all visitor attractions, access roads, walking trails, lookout points, picnic areas and campgrounds. NPWS are also conducting aerial pest control programs as a result of the fire event.
The following areas are estimated to reopen on Thursday 19 March 2020:
- Green Cape precinct and accommodation
- Disaster Bay lookout
- Bittangabee Bay and campground
- Saltwater campground
All other visitor attractions and walking trails will remain closed for a number of months. The Northern Pambula - Haycock section of Ben Boyd National Park, located between Merimbula and Eden, is open. Do not enter this park. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
