Fire bans: Park Fire Ban

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply.

Safety alerts: Fire ban - Middle Beach campground

For visitor safety, campfires and solid fuel fires (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) are not permitted at Middle Beach campground or picnic area.

The use of gas-fired, liquid fuel and electrical appliances will be permitted where:

  • The appliance is under the direct control of an adult
  • The appliance is placed or located in an area where there is no combustible material within 2m
  • There is an adequate water supply to extinguish fire, should it start next to the appliances
  • It is not a Total Fire Ban.

Other planned events: Kangarutha Track - Modified access from Kianinny Bay

The Kianinny access to Kangarutha walking track is modified due closed areas for the construction of a pedestrian bridge of Kianinny Creek. Works will occur from Monday the 18th September to Monday 13th November 2023. 

Follow all directional signs for the temporary access track and do not enter closed areas. Visitors will continue to have access to the playground, BBQs and some picnic tables at the Kianinny Park. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Closed areas: Areas closed due to bushfire recovery including Mumbulla Falls

Biamanga National Park Cultural Area and Mumbulla Creek Falls Cultural picnic area are closed until further notice due to substantial bushfire recovery works on walkways and viewing platforms.

Closed areas: Wadbilliga Road closed west of Lake Creek campground

Wadbilliga Road drive west of Lake Creek campground is closed until further notice.

This is due to significant road damage following repeated severe weather events and widespread flooding. Please follow park signage and staff directives and do not attempt to enter these areas. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
