Fire bans: Park fire ban

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, please contact the local park office before using a gas and or electric barbecue or cooker.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is undertaking weed control spraying targeting crofton weed in the Glenbog section of South East Forests National Park. This program will run from Wednesday 9 October to Friday 22 November 2019. The work will be conducted adjacent to the Snowy Mountains highway.

Other planned events: 1080 fox baiting program underway

A 1080 baiting program will be underway in this park from Monday 1 July to Tuesday 31 December 2019. This program will use meat baits and CPE ejectors. A reminder that 1080 is harmful to domestic animals and that domestic animals are not permitted in national parks or reserves.

A road side spraying program will take place in the Coolangubra section of South East Forests National Park between Monday 19 November 2018 and Thursday 31 January 2019. The affected areas include:

  • Wog Way
  • Bold Granite Road

  • Ben Boyd National Park is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $8 per vehicle per day applies in the southern section of the park (south of Eden). There is no park entry fee for the northern section of the park (north of Eden). The park uses a self-registration fee collection system. Please bring correct change.
