Closed areas: Areas closed for emergency roadworks
The following areas of Mount Kaputar National Park are closed from 2pm Tuesday 25 November until 8am Saturday 29 November 2025 due to emergency roadworks on Kaputar Road:
- Bark Hut picnic area and campground
- Barraba track
- Bundabulla circuit walking track, including Bundabulla lookout, Eckford lookout, and Horsearm lookout
- Coryah Gap picnic area and Mount Coryah walking track
- Dawsons Spring campground and cabins
- Dawsons Spring nature trail
- Doug Sky lookout
- Euglah Rock walking track and lookout
- Green Camp and Yulludunida walking track
- Kaputar Plateau walk, including Lairds lookout, and Rangers lookout
- Kaputar scenic drive
- Lindsay Rock Tops lookout
- Mount Kaputar Summit walk and lookout
- Scutts Hut, including Scutts Hut trail and Scutts Hut and Kurrawonga Falls walk
- The Governor, including the lookout walking track, lookout, and summit walking track
- West Kaputar Rock lookout

Fire bans: Park Fire Ban
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfires and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: The Governor Summit walking track closed for upgrades
The Governor Summit (Corrunbral Borawah) walking track is closed until further notice for upgrades to the elevated walkway sections.
The Governor lookout walking track (including the carpark and lookout platform) is now reopened, however access past the barricade to The Governor Summit walking track is prohibited.

Safety alerts: Washouts on Kaputar Road
There are significant washouts on the gravel section of Kaputar Rd in Mount Kaputar National Park.
Washouts can be harmful to vehicles and passengers. Please travel this section of road with caution and drive through washouts at very low speed.
