Closed areas: Maitland Bay Information Centre closed

Maitland Bay Visitor Centre in Bouddi National Park is closed from Saturday 21 March 2020 until further notice.

Closed areas: Changes to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park precinct closures

Many COVID-19 restrictions have now been lifted from visitor precincts and facilities In Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. However, several tracks and trails will remain closed while upgrades and remediation works are completed. These closures include Bobbin Head playground.

Berowra track, between Apple Tree Bay and the intersection of Mount Ku-ring-gai track, has now reopened. However if you plan to visit, walk with caution as some sections of the track remain uneven. 

Please remember to practice appropriate social distancing requirements and good hygiene. From Saturday 13 June 2020, the maximum group size for an outdoor gathering will be increasing from 10 to 20 people. Groups are still expected to maintain social distancing. If you arrive at a national park or other public space and it is too crowded to practice social distancing, it is your responsibility to leave the area. Do not wait to be instructed by NPWS staff or police.

The closure of toilets and other facilities will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Necessary site assessments will take place to consider the management of health and safety risk to visitors and staff, and available resourcing to maintain facilities. Access to sanitation products and running water cannot be guaranteed. We recommend bringing hand soap, hand wipes and toilet paper with you to maintain good hygiene as advised by the NSW Government.

If you're visiting the park, please bring a card to pay vehicle entry fees.

Other planned events: Warrimoo walking track closure

Warrimoo walking track is partially closed Mondays to Thursdays from Monday 29 June 2020 until mid November 2020. Essential upgrade works include helicopter operations scheduled for Tuesday 11 August 2020. The track is closed from Warrimoo fire trail to the junction of Warrimoo track and Sphinx track.

Sphinx Memorial to Bobbin Head loop track will remain open.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park between Saturday 1 August 2020 and Sunday 31 January 2021. The program involves the use of manufactured baits, fresh baits and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPEs) containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes.

The operation is continuous and ongoing. Don’t touch baits or ejector devices. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

All baiting locations are will be signposted.

Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Fox baiting in these reserves is aimed at reducing their impact on threatened species.

Closed areas: Old Wagstaffe trail - no access through private property

There is no public access to Old Wagstaffe trail through private property. Signs show where public access is not permitted.

  • Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is open sunrise to sunset but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

    • The entrance to Bobbin Head and Appletree Bay is closed from 8pm to 6am during daylight savings periods, and from 5.30pm to 6am the rest of the year.
    • Gates to West Head are closed from 8.30pm to 6am during daylight savings periods, and from 6pm to 6am the rest of the year.
  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day.

    Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Students on educational programs: $1.10 per student. Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).

    Other fees:

    A $3 per adult, $2 per child landing fee may apply for day visitors to The Basin campground. Please pay at the campground wharf. Landing fees are included in your camping fees.
