Closed areas: Aerial pest control operation
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting aerial shooting operations from Tuesday 10 June to Monday 30 June 2025 inclusive. The operation will target all feral animals in Kosciuszko National Park.
Horses will not be controlled in wild horse retention management areas as part of this operation.
During this period the areas described below will be closed. This closure includes all tracks, trails, campgrounds, huts, picnic areas and accommodation nodes within the closed operational area.

The following areas will be closed:
Northern Kosciuszko NP
- Areas to the north-east of the Snowy Mountains Highway through to the northern boundary of Kosciuszko National Park.
- This includes the Bimberi, Goobarragandra, Bramina and Bogong Peaks Wilderness areas, the northern Kosciuszko High Plains and adjacent areas of the park.
Central Kosciuszko NP
- Areas south of the Snowy Mountains Highway including the Happy Jacks and Tolbar areas, the Jagungal Wilderness Area.
- The Jagumba, Tooma, Yellow Bog and Dargals areas on the north and south of the Swampy Plains – Tooma – Cabramurra Road.
- The Australian Alps walking track between Guthega Power Station and the NSW/ACT border.
- The National trail between Round Flat and Khancoban, and Khancoban and the park boundary east of Mt Morgan.
- The Hume and Hovell walking track between the Goobarragandra Road and Boundary Road.
